Today is Sunday and we wanted to take a moment to recap & highlight the wonderful human effort behind the festival!!

Friday marked a hugely successful first-ever Brewfest, thank you to Rheanna & Danielle leading this sold-out event!! We couldn’t have done it without the help and networking from Jen at Olds College Brewery. And thank you to Shelley and her team for organizing Friday night rock-n-roll bingo at the Curling rink lounge upstairs.

Saturday morning marked pancake breakfast and parade. Thank you to the Carstairs Chamber of Commerce for breakfast! And thank you to Leslie and the Lions club volunteers for putting together the Lion’s Parade, plus our many, many community participants in making it a parade! From bands, to horses, floats, vintage cars and more, what an awesome experience for all.

Thank you to Jeff for your incredible organization of the slo-pitch tournament and Dan for caring for the rodeo grounds throughout the weekend.

Thank you to Kristy for all the behind-the-scenes work - from the website, to the forms, to the brochures and more - these are crucial in getting the good word out. And thank you to our incredible main organizers Kelly & Charlie - you are the steady leaders and foundation of this event.

Thank you to the entire Carstairs Ag Society team for all the behind-the-scenes work - from hauling tables, setting up chairs, set up and take down, these are all vital elements to the events.

Most importantly - an immense thank you to the ā€˜front-of-the scene’ volunteers - those setting up and interacting with children at kids zone and the entire team at Carstairs Playschool for manning the concession and providing hamburgers and hot dogs to many.

And it doesn’t end there!! Thank you to Adrenaline Motorsports and Champion Ford for the car show, Crooked Horn for organizing the rodeo and all your efforts, musician Dustin Farr for playing, the Elks and Rocky 6 Ranch for supporting the kids zone, Kristi for glitter tattoos and all you do in bringing colour and sparkle to Carstairs, Ryan for your balloon-animal talents, Lori and Pamela for the markets, and all the market vendors and businesses for coming out. Plus the Farm Table and their ice cream scooping station in multiple locations!!

We thank the museum for providing a scavenger hunt and prizes to many on Beef & Barley Days. Thank you to John at the museum - the museum also serves as an information centre to the many visitors on Beef & Barley Days, a lost kids location for the festival, and public restroom.

We were very lucky to have not one, but two art exhibits in Carstairs yesterday, Eleanor & Peter’s abstract & realism display and the Art Show & Sale by the Carstairs Artists Guild. We thank the many other businesses and organizations throughout town in hosting special events yesterday.

Yesterday evening marked a fun in-line skate party, thank you to Carstairs Towing for sponsoring, Alien In-line for facilitating the party, and Ross at Battle River BBQ for your delicious smoked brisket.

Thank you to the Town of Carstairs for giving us a place for fireworks, and letting us permission to take over the town with this festival.

We did have a few hiccups such as rescheduled fireworks, rodeo grounds being too wet, and reaching capacity for our liquor license at the curling rink - we appreciate everyone’s understanding and flexibility. Thank you to the volunteers at the Carstairs Fire Department for your work in keeping our community safe and for your fireworks duty.

For anyone we have missed, we thank you from the bottom our hearts.

Today Beef & Barley Days wraps up with Church in the Park from 10am-12pm, which is a collaboration from multiple congregations, organized by Church Link. We thank them for coming together to offering an inter-church service to the community. There will be free coffee & donuts. (Update: held in the Curling rink due to weather.)

Thank YOU for participating in Beef & Barley Days and joining us to check things out. If you have any feedback about Beef & Barley Days - or if you might be interested in volunteering next year to help make Beef & Barley Days even better - feel free to reach out to us.

Have a wonderful week & we look forward to seeing you again soon!

Ooops! We made a mistake and used a stock photo of pulled beef when in fact it is *smoked brisket* being served tonight at the free in-line skate party. As fans of food; we felt it was important to make this distinction. šŸ˜‰ Prepared generously by Battle River BBQ.

Skates & helmets provided at the party (or bring your own), thank you to Carstairs Towing and Storage for sponsoring this fun event!

Party starts tonight Saturday, 5pm at the Memorial Arena. More about what to expect at AlienInline.com
