"There’s something valuable about learning in community. Seminary students recently gathered on campus for an in-person course, engaging in discussion with one another, practical learning exercises, and shared experiences with peers who are passionate about ministry and leadership.

These face-to-face opportunities help students deepen their learning experience while building relationships that strengthen and support their ministry long after the class ends."

"Introducing our new mini course, ""Developing Lay Leaders.""

Words from the course instructor, Curtis Zoerb: After 20 years of ministry, I know that one of the ongoing struggles of ministry is to recruit and retain leaders and volunteers. While there is no perfect ‘one size fits all’ approach that works in every church, there are some key areas that you can work on to have the greatest impact. In this course, you will first learn the theory of volunteer development. That is, what will excite people in your church to work towards your kingdom goals (whatever God is leading you towards).

In addition to gaining an understanding of the theory, you will hear from real-life examples of how this has worked, and hasn't worked, in the small, Co-Vocational church. Thoughtfully working through this course will put you on the track towards developing your church's ‘why’, which will answer your volunteers ‘why’, why they should give of their time for your church. My prayer is that these steps, when taken and applied to your unique setting, will help to empower leaders in your church to step up and continue to serve, knowing that they will be making a difference in the Kingdom work you are inviting them into."
