“You Make The Difference!” What an amazing inspirational evening! Ian Hill, Humanitarian. Business Leader, Award-Winning Social Innovator and World Record Breaker spoke to the Dufferin Ag Society and other guest organizations on the importantance of ag societies and community groups in rural Manitoba and how ag societies changed his life. The primary topic was how to reach community members to want to volunteer; the importance of volunteers and how volunteering affects mental health; giving people a purpose. Ian will be speaking in Brandon, McGregor, Rossburn, Stonewall and Morris in the upcoming days. If you have the opportunity to attend one of these events, please do, you will not be disappointed! Thank you to Dale Buhler from MAAS for organizing this event for Agricultural Societies in Manitoba to have this wonderful opportunity.

Thank you to the Carman Dufferin Fire Department for their quick response this evening. We are very saddened by the loss of the 4-H horse barn which many 4-H families have spent a lot of time fixing in the last couple years. We know that we are very fortunate to have the fire department service available to us or the situation could have been so much worse. We appreciate you.

For more than 60 years, CWHA has hosted light horse shows throughout Manitoba, including shows in the Eastern and Interlake regions.

Each year, the show season begins at the Carman Country Fair!

Did you know that preparing a 4-H market animal is a process that takes months?

The 4-H year begins when members start watching their calves grow. Throughout the spring and summer, they learn about their animals and eventually select the steer they feel best represents their project.

By early December, the selected market steers have their first weigh-in. From there, members spend the winter feeding and caring for their animals, getting to know them and helping them develop into the best representation of their project.

As spring approaches, the focus shifts to getting the animals ready for the show. Members work on halter breaking, grooming and the final preparation needed to safely bring their projects to the fair.

So when you see a 4-H member and their animal at the Carman Country Fair, you’re seeing the result of months of care, preparation and hard work.
