From the proceeds of our annual April Supper and Auction, the Carlyle District Lions Club has now distributed over $47,000. to deserving non-profit organizations. Disbursements were based on the number of tickets sold by each club. For every $60.00 ticket sold, we were able to give back an amazing $80.00 after the profits from the auction were determined. Worthy recipients are detailed under every photo caption.

We have been busy renovating the campground bathrooms! One is now done and open to our campers while we get going on the second. Thank you to Chimo Building Centre and Carlyle Home Hardware for making sure we purchase all the correct supplies, to Jeff at Faber's Electric for doing the plumbing work, and to Robert Carriere for helping Lion Michelle with the wall material.

The 2026 Bike Rodeo was a tremendous success this week, with K to 2 students from Carlyle Elementary School and Manor School participating in a fun and educational morning of cycling safety.

A sincere thank you to our dedicated Lions volunteers, led by Lion Jen Sedor, the local RCMP, and Katie at Carlyle Home Hardware for helping make this event possible.

Thanks to funding support from SGI and the Carlyle Lions Club, every student received a bicycle helmet. Helmet fittings were provided with assistance from a member of the Saskatchewan Health Authority Brain Injury Prevention Team, helping ensure students are equipped to ride safely.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this valuable community event a success! 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️🦁

Carlyle Lions Club members and friends were busy this week erecting a new gazebo at Lions Pride Estates. Pictured from left, Lions Pride Chairman Duncan Brown, Dennis Gabrielle, Lion Mike Makelki, Tyler Colpitts, Gary Roy, and Logan Young. Missing are Tim Young, Lion George Anderson, Lori Brown, and Sheila Colpitts. A big thank-you to Devin Faber (Faber’s Electric) for pouring the concrete pad and adding a gas line. Another welcome upgrade for the Town of Carlyle and its properties!

We were excited to have Canadian James Photography at our Supper and Auction to highlight just how amazing it is to be a Lions member!

I’m guilty of having a dated idea of what the Lions Club is. I see their logo everywhere. I understand that they do immense amounts for their community. I didn’t understand that they aren’t the type to be in bed by 7pm😂
When I was first contacted about this project, one of the goals was to show that the Lions Club is getting a little younger; that it’s not “just a bunch of old guys doing barbecues”.

This event by the Carlyle District Lions Club was a real party. I got to witness the sheer passion this club has in putting on an event for people of all ages. It wasn’t just a group of people playing bingo in a musty hall. It was a full auction, a raffle, a dance, a feast, a DJ, and a hell of a band.
From walking in that door to the time I left, I was nothing but impressed by how the Lions approached fundraising in such a vibrant and entertaining fashion.

If you’re a Lions Club member, thank you for all that you do. If you’re looking to volunteer in your community and not really sure where to start, talk to a local member.

Thank you for having me out and showing everyone such a good time for great causes.
