As many of you know, we recently made the difficult decision to close Care Closet. After carefully liquidating our remaining funds and assets, we’re proud to share that we donated $620 to Lanark County Food Bank-The Hunger Stop and $620 to the Hungry Lunch hosted at Zion-Memorial United Church — both of which continue to support individuals and families in need within our community.

We’re deeply grateful for the support we've received over the years. Every donation, volunteer hour, and shared word helped us extend care, dignity, and resources to those who needed it most.

Though this chapter has come to a close, the impact continues — now through the food provided, meals served, the clothing given, and the generosity of our community.

Huge thank you to everyone who came out to our closing sale!! We made $642.50 for the !!

AND a huge thank you to Zion-Memorial United Church for hosting us and helping us set up! Gravity Tree Services for helping with moving! The shedders from Hackberry Men's Shed for all their hard work helping us move everything! And to all the incredible volunteers who helped us set up and run the sale! So thankful for such an amazing community that made this event possible!

Your generosity made it possible for us to create and maintain a welcoming, beautiful space where those in need in our community could shop for free quality clothing. Whether you gave time, materials, skills, or support, you were a vital part of our mission.

While it was not easy to close Care Closet - Carleton Place Clothing Bank, we are grateful for what we accomplished together and the lives we were able to touch because of your contributions.

With heavy hearts, we are sad to announce that Care Closet - Carleton Place Clothing Bank will be permanently closing. Although we hoped to open in a new model as pop ups this spring, some substantial shifts in our board’s personal circumstances have led to this difficult decision.

Over the last two years we’ve had the privilege of serving 575 people and giving out 4300 clothing items to those in need. This would not have been possible without the incredible support of our community, volunteers, and sponsors; thank you to each and every one of you. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to have served our community in this way and connected with all of you!

We will be hosting our first and only pop up on June 14th from 9am till 2pm at Zion-Memorial United Church ! If you or your family need clothing, please come and shop for free. Big thank you to everyone who made our last minute move a breeze! Thank you to each of our incredible volunteers, to MySelfStorage for being a place to land while we do our first Pop Ups, and to Houle Healthcare and Gravity Tree Services for assisting in moving inventory to the storage unit.

Although the move was bitter sweet as we had to say goodbye to a place we poured a lot of love into we are excited for what’s ahead and to continue to care for our community well! Updates on the first Pop Up coming soon!

We have some big news! Care Closet will no longer be located at 299 Bridge Street when we reopen in the new year. We’re preparing for a new and exciting season of Care Closet Pop-Ups in the community!

While this may seem to be a slight step backward in scope initially, we feel this change in model will enable us to make big leaps forward in the future!

Mid December we learned that our existing Building Use Contract would not be renewed for 2025. We were given a new contract that unfortunately, would not allow us to continue operating in our current format or with the care for our community that we strive for. We are thankful that Carleton Place Baptist Church let us use their building over the past two years, and value the opportunity to have served our community from within their space.

This is a big, sudden change and we poured a lot of love into the current space, so it’s hard to say goodbye, but we’re excited about what lies ahead as we strive to continue to serve our community well!

More details to come in the new year! We wish you all a very Happy New Year and see you in 2025!!
