Nourish & Develop The Nourish and Develop Foundation is a charitable non-profit organization, located in Cannington, Ontario. Established in 2000.

We are an organization where people can receive more than just access to food and services. Over the past few years, TNDF has grown in more ways than one. We have added to our dedicated team of staff, recruited and trained new volunteers, increased and improved community programs, and researched and implicated new strategies to strengthen our community. Today, we support families and individuals through our Food Pantry and service hundreds more through our community programming. Providing access to good food is just the beginning of our work. We believe that improving lives and building stronger communities is the result of working together with a sense of purpose. Our programs are developed to improve self-reliance and include projects that strengthen the community.

Reusable Bags Wanted! 🛍️

We're looking for donations of reusable shopping bags to help community members bring their groceries home. Any size, style, or type of reusable bag is welcome and appreciated. 💛

Before donating, we kindly ask that you double-check for any personal belongings!

📍 Donations can be dropped off at 16 York Street, Cannington, from Monday to Friday, 9 AM - 4 PM.

Community Market doesn't just happen on Market day 🥕

Before the tables are set and the customers arrive, it takes a lot of hard work behind the scenes to get everything ready...and we need your help! 💛

We're looking for volunteers to:
• Weigh and sort fresh produce
• Package market items
• Prepare products from our Made With Care line
• Get everything ready for a successful market day

Help us choose our Fruit of the Month! 🐉🍍

Last week, we received an incredible 311 lb produce donation from Walmart, and tucked among the fresh fruits and vegetables were two stand-out stars: star fruit and yellow dragonfruit! ✨

They're colourful, unique, and not something we see every day. The problem? We can't decide which one deserves the title of Fruit of the Month! 🤔

We’re officially developing our 2027–2030 Strategic Plan, and we want our community to be part of it.

A Strategic Plan helps guide where TNDF focuses its time, energy and resources over the next few years — and before we make those decisions, we want to hear from you.

Whether you’ve used our services, volunteered, donated, partnered with us, attended an event, or simply live in our community, your perspective matters.

Our survey takes just 5–10 minutes, and your feedback will help us understand what matters most, where TNDF can have the greatest impact, and what our community needs from us moving forward.

Halloween is usually about filling bags with candy. This year, we're asking Cannington to fill one more bag — for a neighbour facing food insecurity. 🧡

On October 31, TNDF volunteers are heading door-to-door in Cannington to collect food for our Food Bank, with a goal of collecting 1,000 lbs in one day.

👉 Want to help? Visit www.tndf.ca/scare-away-hunger for all the details, including our collection area.

Every bag left out helps keep food on our shelves and available for people in our community who need it.

Start setting aside a few items now. On Halloween morning, leave your bag marked “FOOD BANK” somewhere visible by 10 AM, and we'll come to you!

What Does Our Food Bank Need Most?
While we appreciate a variety of non-perishable food and household essentials, these are some of the things our Food Bank could use most right now:
🍝 Canned pasta
☕ Coffee
🥫 Condiments
🍎 School snacks
🌾 Flour
🧴 Body wash

In case you missed it, 📦 Express Bags are now available in more locations across Brock Township.

When food can't wait, immediate support can make all the difference. TNDF's Express Bags are pre-packed bags of staple, shelf-stable foods available without an appointment.

Thank you to United Way Durham Region and Brock Libraries for helping us expand access to this important program 💛

In addition to being available at TNDF's reception area, Express Bags can now be picked up at the Brock Libraries Cannington Branch and Community Market—making it even easier to access food support when it's needed most.

FINAL WARM TOOTSIES DISTRIBUTION DAY - CANNINGTON! ❄️

There's still time to find warm winter clothing for the children and youth in your family.

Join us tonight from 5-7 PM at The Nourish and Develop Foundation (16 York Street, Cannington) to browse our selection of free winter essentials.

This is the final Warm Tootsies distribution event of the season, and we'd love to see any remaining items find a home before the colder weather arrives ❄️

Can't make it tonight? Any winter clothing remaining after the event will be brought to The Thrift Hub in Cannington.
