Many Bow Valley businesses compete for the same seasonal talent.

Inclusive workplaces stand out.

When employees feel valued, they stay longer. When guests feel welcomed, they spend more time and money in our community.

DEI is not a trend. It is sustainable business practice.

Call for Participants: Portraits of the Bow Valley

Bow Valley Pride is inviting trans and gender-diverse individuals to take part in a community storytelling photo project.

Portraits of the Bow Valley will feature eight participants from across the region, sharing their stories through portrait photography and short written reflections. The project is grounded in the idea that trans people are part of this community in many different ways, across generations, identities, and lived experiences.

Selected participants will take part in a scheduled photo session and a short, supported storytelling process. No prior experience is needed. This project is about showing up as you are.

The final portraits will be exhibited during both Canmore Pride and Banff Pride, with the goal of creating visibility, connection, and recognition across the Bow Valley.

We are intentionally seeking a range of participants, including different:
Ages, Backgrounds, Family structures

You do not need to be “out” publicly in all areas of your life to participate. We are committed to working with participants to ensure comfort, safety, and consent throughout the process.

If you work in tourism or hospitality in Banff, you know how fast first impressions matter.

Using someone’s correct pronouns is part of that first impression.

A Harvard Business Review article explains how sharing pronouns helps create safer workplaces and reduces stigma for trans and nonbinary staff.

In a town where many workers are far from home, belonging matters.

Some destinations are scaling back inclusion efforts in response to backlash. Others are doing the opposite.

Tourism operators who stay committed to 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion are seeing stronger brand loyalty, clearer positioning, and long-term trust from travellers.

What does that look like in practice? And what does it mean for Banff and the Bow Valley?
Explore why consistency in values is becoming a competitive advantage.
