We Want to give a huge thank you to our friend Kat who does Wellness sessions each month with our adult participants. Each month is different; we did dancing/ stretching in January, made our own person and Kat let them trace her as their base in February and March we played some trivia. Everyone enjoys our time with Kat! Thank you to Crossway Thrift for the continued funding for this valuable program.

Congratulations to the amazing Lauranda on her 3 year work anniversary as BVCC’s social programmer. BVCC appreciates your creativity, community connections, all the planning for programs & events, flexible working for part time hours and bringing much fun & care. Lauranda also volunteered with BVCC since 2015. Noted for great tshirts, seasonal accessories, dress up & dance moves! Thank you for all you do & always with a smile.

Stories, Sound & Static showcased each adult participant's special interests & skills through the clever idea of a family watching tv and flipping through different tv channels. The Canmore High School upgraded theatre screen technology was fabulous for this. 2 participants shared with videos vs in person - Cullen's history knowledge of the CPR & Banff Springs Hotel & Alessandro's claymation animation of the historic Emu Wars - both had a lot of humour! Everyone learnt so much from helping to develop the story with Candise McMullin at Canmore Theatre School & grew in confidence, speaking, acting & working together as a team.

Stealing the Stars - the kids developed a unique story with Candise McMullin with Canmore Theatre School around a dragon & a phoenix & the universe. Lots of practicing, learning & fun along the way. Great story narrating, artistic movement of puppet heads & ribbon tails & wings and cute lil dragon roars! Thanks to the siblings that got involved too & parent support.

Thank you to everyone who came and supported the amazing BVCC theatre production and to all the actors, volunteers, parents, supporters and funders. 🎭 Inclusive Theatre Performances – Everyone Welcome! 🎭

Join us this January for an inclusive theatre production featuring two original plays created with children and adults. After months of rehearsals, participants are excited to share their work with the community!

Stealing the Stars is a movement-based, mythic creation story for our children’s group, and Stories, Sound & Static brings the stage to life as TV channels inspired by adult participants’ own passions and interests. Both plays were written for BVCC by Candise McMullin of Canmore Theatre School.

January 23 | 6:30–8:00 PM
January 24 | 1:00–2:30 PM
Canmore Collegiate High School Theatre (wheelchair accessible)

Attendance is free with no tickets or RSVP required, and both the children’s and adults’ plays will be performed on each date. Cash donations will be accepted to help fund all the costs associated with the production.
This project was made possible through the support of the Rotary Club of Canmore and our director Candise McMillen of Canmore Theatre School. BVCC is also grateful to the Canmore Legion - Three Sisters Branch #3
for providing rehearsal space, ISL Engineering and Birdies for Kids for additional funding, and Canmore Collegiate High School for hosting the performances.

We had such a fun 🤩 Holiday party for all of our participants huge thanks to Reta for hosting! The participants made ornaments, crafts, built gingerbread houses that for some reason kept falling apart, played games, seen some elves whom were hidden, did a fun photo shoot, and had some Santa cake! Thanks Vernie for your yummy cake and cake pops!

Happy New Year to everyone from all of us at BVCC!! Huge thanks to all that came out to our holiday extravaganza and participated in helping! Huge thanks to Santa and Mrs. Claus, Kirsten and Kevin for opening the show, Mark and John for leading us in carols! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season!

Guess what we have been hiding?!?!? We are doing a play again. Only this time 2 plays one for the kid participants and one for the adult participants! January 23 and 24th at the high school theatre! Hope to see everyone there!!
