Join Soul of Miistaki for a guided Via Ferrata experience at Mount Norquay on July 26, 2026!

No climbing experience required, just a sense of adventure (a bit of hiking experience is recommended)!

📍 Where: Mount Norquay, Banff�📅 When: July 26, 2026�🕤 Meet: 9:30 AM (gear fitting, waivers & group meeting)�
Experience starts: Approximately 11:00 AM (allow up to 4 hours)�Age: 18+

Cost: $50 (regular value: $260 CAD)
We don’t want cost to be a barrier, financial support is available if needed.

Helmets, harnesses, lanyards, and hiking boots are available to borrow. If you have your own climbing gear, feel free to bring it for added comfort.

Bring: Your own backpack, snacks, water, and weather-appropriate clothing.

Join us for Soul Of Miistaki’s annual BIPOC Cultural Climbing Weekend! 🏔️✨

Whether you’re brand new to climbing or looking to build on your skills, this weekend is about connection, community, and learning alongside Elders in the beautiful Bow Valley. Come climb, share stories, enjoy good food, and deepen your relationship with the mountains in a supportive and welcoming space.

Siyisgaas (Thank you in Gūnánà) Many Horses High School students for a rad climbing day last week. Despite the forecast we had some troopers, give it their all.

The High School students have a monthly climbing club supported by staff Krissy and more. This outdoor day is a wrap up for their club and school year. Wishing you all an adventurous summer. Looking forward to tomorrow where it’s the Junior High Students turn.

Soul of Miistaki will be offering a Hide Tanning Workshop that is open to everyone.

You will be guided through techniques of fleshing, hide and building the stretcher to lace on hide. Also scraping hide and finishing tanning the other hide.

Winston Wadsworth Jr. will be leading our workshop. He has been tanning hides for a long time since he was a young boy and has been taught this traditional practice from his family.

📅 Date: Friday June 19th & Saturday June 20th 2026
📍 Location: Star 6 Ranch
👤 Age: 12+ (Minors must have a parent/guardian present to sign rental waivers.)
⏰ Time: 9am - 4pm

Fee: $150

*Lunch will be provided both days*

DEADLINE June 11th, 2026 for application submission

SOYOHPAWAHKO

Pronounciation: (SO-YOH-PA-WAH-KO)

Meaning: "Ridge under water"

As the centre of Siksikaitsitapi (Blackfoot) territory, it was the site of Treaty No. 7 negotiations in 1877 and continues to be significant to the Siksika community. Through time and space, the Crossing serves as the thread that ties together historic events and natural features in a cultural landscape
