Not bad at all for a landlocked province! 🛟

Last weekend, the 2026 Canadian Surf Lifesaving Championships was held in Nova Scotia, and our friends at surf.central.ab were there to represent Alberta!

Their club placed second overall, and AB athletes took home medals for the following events:

National Lifeguard Appreciation Day

Today, the City of Camrose proudly recognizes and celebrates our incredible lifeguards — the unsung heroes who keep our community safe every single day.

Behind every splash, swim lesson, and family outing at our aquatic facilities is a team of highly trained, dedicated professionals who are constantly alert, prepared, and ready to act at a moment’s notice. Lifeguards don’t just watch the water — they anticipate risks, respond in emergencies, provide first aid, teach life-saving skills, and help create a welcoming, safe environment for everyone.

Their work requires intense focus, strong communication, physical endurance, and a deep commitment to the well-being of others. While much of what they do often goes unnoticed, their impact is immeasurable.

To all of our lifeguards: thank you for your vigilance, your professionalism, and the heart you bring to your role. You are a vital part of our community, and we are grateful for everything you do to keep Camrose safe.

Take a moment today to thank a lifeguard — they truly make a difference.
