The beauty of the day unraveled so nicely with our group today at Nature Nook.

The first half hour is always for free play and anchoring into the environment, saying our hellos and having a bite to eat.

Then we moved into our group work. Today we introduced our nature journals that the kids will get to work on throughout the year. I love these little gems, to see each child's personal growth that unfolds!! Today the kids simply decorated the front with their own personal flare then as a group we did a little breath work and grounding practice before the kids set out for their own child-led play and exploration.

We had some problem solving to do today and the children took the lead to figure out a solution with some guidance from myself and Summer!

In the afternoon, we all enjoyed a little nature scavenger hunt before packing up for the day.

Excited to see what unfolds next week!!

Weeks 1 & 2 of Garden Camp

The first two weeks came and went in a blink of an eye and we had a BLAST!! So many fun experiences and learning opportunities were had and new friendships were made!

We are following The Very Hungry Caterpillar book by Eric Carl which is our theme for Garden Camp this year. Throughout the 6-weeks, we are doing a mini book study and each day we have a fun new activity! Here is a glimpse into what we have begun. Each activity is an invitation and we encourage all kids to join!

During the first week, we had a discussion about the difference between MOTHS and BUTTERFLIES and we all (including Summer and I) learned so much. Did you know the difference between a cocoon and a chrysalis? If so, share below!!

We did nature art by creating our own caterpillars and butterflies using only items we found on a nature walk and during our walk, we looked for different signs of moths and butterflies. We worked on symmetry and worked with a partner and talked about how butterfly wings are always the same on both sides.

And we had tons of free time, where the kids got to enjoy the space around them. Most days, our zipline is the highlight, but the kids also enjoy playing in the sprinkler, creating fun food in our mud kitchen and visiting the animals and collecting eggs.

Follow along for more fun in the weeks to come!

If you are needing last minute help with your kiddos, there are still spots available on Tuesday and Thursday!!! Send me a message for more info.
