I’m 🎉 Making a Difference in Our Community! 🎉

Did you know that through charitable gaming, Cambridge Bingo & Gaming Centre has helped raise $2.7 million in the past year for over 100 local charities and service organizations? 💙

As members of Soroptimist International of Cambridge, we are grateful to be part of a community that supports programs and initiatives benefiting women and girls, families, and local causes right here in Cambridge.

Every volunteer shift, every player, and every game helps create positive change. Thank you to Cambridge Bingo & Gaming Centre and everyone who supports charitable gaming for investing in our community and helping organizations like ours continue our mission.

Together, we are transforming lives and strengthening our community—one game at a time.

Today, May 5, Soroptimist International of Cambridge honours Red Dress Day, also known as the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S).

Across Canada, empty red dresses are displayed as powerful symbols of the Indigenous women and girls who are missing, murdered, and deeply missed. These dresses represent voices that must be heard and lives that must never be forgotten.

As an organization committed to improving the lives of women and girls, Soroptimist International of Cambridge stands in solidarity with Indigenous communities. We recognize the ongoing impact of violence, systemic inequities, and the urgent need for awareness, education, and action.

Today, we encourage our community to:❤️ Wear red in remembrance❤️ Learn about the history and impact of MMIWG2S❤️ Support Indigenous-led initiatives and organizations❤️ Advocate for safety, justice, and equity for all women and girls

Together, we can help create a future where every woman and girl is safe, valued, and heard.

Soroptimist International Cambridge hosted a screening of "The Day Iceland Stood Still" on April 30 at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture. Nearly 100 enthusiastic movie-goers joined us for an engaging evening, capped off with a lively post-film discussion.

A heartfelt thank-you to our generous sponsors: From Farm to Table Canada Inc. for providing the popcorn, Zehrs Cambridge Centre for supplying the water, and the University of Waterloo School of Architecture for welcoming us into their space.

We're excited to bring more thought-provoking films to our community in the future.

A special message from our Club President to our members.

Good sunny Monday morning Soroptimists Friends,

“Volunteers don’t get paid, not because they’re worthless, but because they’re priceless.” – Sherry Anderson
These quotes, (above & in photo) capture the spirit of volunteering — they emphasize its transformative impact on both society and the individual, and illuminate the selflessness, empathy, and commitment that it entails. We volunteer to grow connection, community and belonging. This week is Volunteer week and I wanted to say, I am touched by your dedication and grateful how you serve with joy and care.
You being a member of Soroptimist is invaluable, it does not go unnoticed the time and energy you put in and I am proud to work and learn along side you. The impact you have on women, girls , gender diverse individuals and our community at large, is profound. The value of one, the power of many.
With deep appreciation, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for working tirelessly for our Soroptimist club and to those who volunteer in so many other ways in our community, with heartfelt gratitude Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU!
Yours in Soroptimist Friendship,
Joni
