Our Vision
Kids Can Play believes that engaging in music, art and physical exercise is vital to a child‘s mental and physical development. We also believe it is unacceptable for money to be a barrier to that which is vital. Our Mission
The mission of Kids Can Play is to pay the enrolment fee for financially disadvantaged children to participate in sports, music and art offered in the City of Cam
bridge, Ontario. Why We Assist
10% of children living in the Waterloo region are members of families with household incomes below the poverty line. This translates to thousands of children in Cambridge, Ontario that require our assistance. Our goal is to assist 20% of those children in financial need – double the national average! Kids Can Play pays the enrolment fee for children to participate in any program including the arts, music, sports and cultural activities. Participating in sport, the arts and music has been proven to enhance a child’s mental and physical development. Kids Can Play helps those in financial need for sport, music and art registration fees, enrollment fees or activity fees. Charity Description
Kids can Play of Cambridge is a community based completely volunteer charity that has operated in Cambridge since 1994. Our funds come from multiple fundraising events run by Kids Can Play board members through Grand Valley Golf & Country Club, private local donations and grants from the Cambridge United Way, the City of Cambridge and Cambridge and North Dumfries Foundation, Preston International Hockey Tournament, Tim Horton’s Cambridge and private donations. We maintain our overhead at 5% or less due to our extraordinary volunteers so over 95% of your dollar will directly support children living in poverty. Annually we donate $100,000 to over 60 activity providers and assist over 350 children to participate in programs all year long.
