21 Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada Army Cadet Corps

Cambridge Army Cadets are the third oldest cadet corps in Canada. 21 RHFC ACC is a free organization open to youth ages 12-18. www.21armycadets.ca

The Cadet Program is the largest federally-sponsored youth program in Canada that includes the Royal Canadian Sea, Army and Air Cadets. It is a national program for young Canadians aged 12 to 18 who are interested in participating in a variety of fun, challenging and rewarding activities while learning about the sea, army and air activities of the Canadian Forces. Cadets are encouraged to become a

ctive, responsible members of their communities. They make valuable contributions to Canadian society on a daily basis in terms of environmental, citizenship and community activities. Cadets also learn valuable life and work skills such as teamwork, leadership and citizenship. Cadets are not members of the Canadian Forces, nor are they expected to join the military. Cadets is a great way for youth to learn more about Canada, make new friends and develop life skills that will enable them to succeed no matter what career they choose.

It's with an abundance of caution that I've decided to cancel our regular training this Monday, the 26th of January. The bad weather should have passed by Cadet time, but that doesn't mean the roads will be cleared and I don't want to put anyone on the roads if we don't have to!

Please remember to sign up for the FTX and check on teams for any further updates and we'll see you all next week, February 2nd for our CO's parade.

Due to the especially wintry forecast for tomorrow, Sunday, January 25th, I'm going to cancel the marksmanship training. We'll keep an eye on the weather and see how it turns out for Monday, but at this point it looks like we should be in the clear for our regular scheduled training. Stay warm and stay safe! Congratulations to our legion liaison officer, Capt Peter Meyers (ret), on receiving The Ontario Veterans Award for Community Service Excellence for his continued hard work assisting the community and specifically his many years of dedication to the cadet program. Capt Meyers is a former CIC officer and Reg Force member who has continued his services to the community long after retiring from the CAF. Additionally, he received special recognition for his work with the Vet Build program. BZ Peter, on behalf of all the cadets you've assisted over the years, thank you for your dedication and service. You have helped the cadet movement in Cambridge be what it is.

Parents and cadets, save to date! It will soon be that time of year where we send cadets into the community in support of our local legions' poppy campaigns. Every year, our cadets work with branch 121 in Galt and branch 272 in Hespeler to assist in this important endeavor. With the changes in our supervision requirements, we are asking families that are able, to supervise their own cadets at these poppy locations for a few hours so that we can use vetted staff to cover the other locations. The dates will be Saturday November 1 & 8. generally 3 hour shifts in either the morning or afternoon. Final details to come and we appreciate your support. CO's Parade Tonight

Tonight is our (almost) monthly CO's Parade, where we will be presenting star level qualifications for those that missed them at ACR and any outstanding promotions.

I would like to invite our families and friends to come watch the proceedings at 8:30 tonight. I'm not sure that your cadet will be receiving any accommodations- but it's a great way to support the greater 21 family and to share in the accomplishments of others.

This Monday, 22 September, cadets are authorized to wear an orange t-shirts with their FTU in recognition of orange t-shirts day on 30 September. This voluntary and cadets are not expected to participate.

Reminder to all returning cadets - Our annual validation night is this Monday, 8 September. Bring a parent/guardian to sign your paperwork and be prepared to stay the evening. Dress is FTU or suitable civilian dress
