The Coping Centre

The Coping Centre Coping Bereavement Support Groups of Ontario was established in 1990 and is devoted to companioning bereaved people in their individual journeys of grief.

For the past 20 years we have been providing grief support for those who have lost a loved one. The headquarters of Coping is in Cambridge and there are 8 branches across Canada. Through a variety of programs, people and children learn to express and work through their loss in a safe environment, gaining tools to help them cope and eventually be able to reinvest in life again. Many of the families

that come to COPING are already suffering emotional and financial stresses. The relief is sometimes palpable when they are told that our programs are offered as a free service. Often, there are consequences when bereaved people are not supported adequately, e.g., relationship problems, unresolved anger, depression, etc. That is why so many medical professionals, clergy, teachers and other support workers are glad we are in the community. It has been said that if we mourn well, we can live well and love well again, but many people need support as they work through the difficulties of their grief. This community service is provided at no cost to the participants. We offer support groups for children, teens and adults. The charity is financed through a variety of fundraising efforts, including our Corvette raffle! The proceeds will help us increase our capacity while maintaining the quality of help we offer to hurting people.

💚 HALFWAY THERE!

How is it already halfway through the Car that Cares campaign?!

We’re getting closer and closer to the day when we find out who gets to take home the Corvette Stingray!!

But while we’re counting down to that amazing moment, something else exciting is happening…

Our fall grief support groups and retreats are getting ready to begin at The Coping Centre with programs for children, teens, adults and families who are learning to live with the loss of someone they love.

And your support truly is the magic that make all of this possible. ❤️

So yes, there’s a Corvette to dream about.
There are Apple Gift Cards to win.
But there’s also something pretty meaningful happening behind the scenes with every ticket purchased.

Together we are changing lives. You, us, and the magic that happens when we care about each other.

We’re halfway there.
Let’s see where the next half takes us. 💚

You are making a difference with every ticket you buy and every time you share our cause with your family and friends. We could never do this without you. Thank you ❤

A reminder for anyone grieving:

You don’t always have to say “I’m fine.”

Sometimes the bravest thing you can say is:

“Today is hard.”

“I miss them.”

“I need someone to listen.”

Your feelings deserve a place to be heard.

Today, we remember Rachele. ❤️

Today would have been her 49th birthday.

Rachele’s life was far too short, but the love her family had for her became the beginning of something that would touch thousands of lives.

After losing Rachele, Ros and Glenn recognized how deeply families need support when someone they love dies. From that experience, The Coping Centre was born. A place where grieving people could find understanding, connection, and the comfort of knowing they were not alone.

Rachele is at the heart of that story.

Every family supported. Every child who finds a place to talk about their loss. Every person who walks through the doors of The Coping Centre carrying grief; they are part of the legacy that began with one beloved daughter whose life mattered so deeply.

So today, we don't only remember the years Rachele was given. We celebrate the love she inspired, the lives that have been changed because of her, and the lasting legacy she left behind.

Happy heavenly birthday, Rachele.
Your life continues to make a difference. 💜

The weeks and months after a loss can be some of the loneliest.

If someone comes to mind today, send a text. Make a call. Let them know you're thinking of them.

Small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact. 💚💜

Everyone carries something.

Some carry memories.
Some carry unanswered questions.
Some carry moments they wish they could relive.
Some carry a love that has nowhere to be expressed in the same way anymore.

Grief is part of the story we carry after losing someone important.

And sometimes, sharing the weight with others makes the journey a little less lonely.
