It is said that music is the universal language of mankind. The Bridges’ Music Therapy Program provides individuals an opportunity to learn or enhance their skills with a musical instrument. After many years of use, we currently need replacement instruments. We require acoustic guitars, a small electric keyboard, tambourines, and bongo or personal drums. If you can help, please contact [email protected].

We are so fortunate to have so many generous donors who give monthly, annually, or even just once! Recently we received a donation for $5000! As we transition from an incredibly cold winter, this donation will go a long way in meeting our needs. From the smallest smile on the street to a cash donation, these gestures towards those experiencing homelessness reflect a caring community. Many thanks to all who give to those who need it most.

BridgeCare is open and tours can be arranged for interested groups and individuals. Recently, we welcomed Dr. Matt Strauss, MP Kitchener South - Hespeler and members of Supportive Housing Advocacy Waterloo Region (SHAWR) Cathy Baer and Deb Schlichter. BridgeCare is a first-of-its kind program in our region, designed specifically to support individuals who are both medically fragile and are experiencing homelessness. Originally launched in 2021 as a COVID-19 isolation centre at the request of the Region of Waterloo, the program has since evolved into a vital recuperative care facility that fills a critical gap in our healthcare and shelter systems. In addition to having a full-time nurse on site, the individuals supported at BridgeCare are assigned a housing worker shortly after admission. As with all programs and services provided by Cambridge Shelter, BridgeCare is focused on helping individuals exit homelessness.

Challenge yourself to Walk to Change the Conversation about homelessness. This virtual challenge highlights the importance of getting involved in a cause you care about. It's completely free to register but we encourage you to raise $100 to earn a $10 gift card as a thank you. Team up with your friends, family, pets or neighbours to take this walk anywhere, on your own time, and at your own pace. All funds raised by our walkers will directly support the services offered at The Bridges, Waterloo Region’s only permanent emergency shelter for adult men experiencing homelessness. Using a “Housing First” model, The Bridges focuses on helping individuals to overcome the barriers that hamper their move to appropriate and permanent housing. Your help is critical as we work to address the many issues confronting individuals experiencing homelessness in our community.

Every year on this date many countries, include Canada, celebrate International Women’s Day. From its beginnings on March 8, 1857, when female textile workers marched to protest unfair working conditions and rights for women to 1975 when the day was formally recognized by the United Nations, International Women’s Day is a day of unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy and action.

There is no set timeline. No designated route. Just walk when and where you choose. Walk with your friends, your family, your pets. All funds raised will directly support programs at The Bridges.
