We Therapy Dogs had a blast meeting the public at the Police Open House today! We are grateful to WRPS for the opportunity ❤️ At one point there were seven of us therapy dogs hanging about, yet no shortage of people to wag our tails at and for us to snuggle. We thank everyone who stopped to meet and pet us!

This past Saturday it was World Veterinary Day! The Therapy Dogs just can’t pass up a chance to celebrate and say thank you to our veterinary partners, for keeping us healthy and happy and enabling us to do some very special work in our community ❤️ Thank you!

Happy National Volunteer Week!

If you’ve been following along with the posts this week, you’ve hopefully become aware of how many ways our amazing dogs make a difference in our community.

Some of our dogs take it one more paw-step - into the world of working with children. These teams take an extra optional assessment to ensure they will be comfortable in the exciting environments of schools and libraries - how children adore our dogs! And the feeling is completely mutual ❤️🐶❤️

Happy National Volunteer Week!

Over the 30 years of the SJA’s Therapy Dog program, we’ve witnessed a broad expansion in the contexts in which we serve, and the clientele for whom we can make a difference.

In addition to visiting in long term care and retirement homes, these Cambridge Therapy Dogs can been seen in other settings on a regular basis. They and their dedicated handlers are out visiting several times a week! There are so many places where a little canine care and comfort goes a long way to help improve a person’s day.

We continue celebrating National Volunteer Week by sharing more of our Therapy Dogs who visit adults in long term care and retirement settings each week.

All of our Therapy Dogs love their jobs! They get so excited when they see mom or dad donning the red SJA shirt. Happy tails that wag their whole body sometimes make it hard to put on the dog’s Therapy Dog scarf! They can’t wait to go do what they do best ❤️

Happy National Volunteer Week!

Cambridge SJA is so proud of its Therapy Dog program and the 33 dogs that make up our ranks! To celebrate their positive contribution to our community, we are sharing several posts this week to tell you about our special dogs and the magic of what they do.

Our first post highlights the heart and soul of the SJA Therapy Dog program - every team that joins us begins their TD journey by visiting adults in a long term care or retirement home. Each week, these dogs with their handlers visit residents and staff, getting to know each other a little more each time, building a long term relationship that offers companionship, comfort and caring.

Here are just a few of the Cambridge Therapy Dogs who touch the hearts of the many friends they’ve made in these settings ❤️🐶❤️

SJA York Region has said it best! Our Cambridge community loves the Therapy Dogs who visit in such a broad range of programs - seniors, children and everyone in between! And our TD handlers are the best pet parents ❤️❤️❤️
