Kitikmeot Inuit Association KIA is a designated Inuit organization representing Inuit in the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut.

We are a not-for-profit designated Inuit organization with community-elected leadership representing the Inuit people of the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut. Our goal is to support Kitikmeot Inuit, providing them with more educational, employment, and business opportunities. Vision
Our vision is to protect the social, cultural, political, and environmental well-being of Kitikmeot Inuit while providing new economic opportunities for the Kitikmeot Region to thrive. Mandate
We manage the lands and resources that support traditional and cultural values, providing economic and social benefits to Kitikmeot Inuit. Our mandate is for the Kitikmeot Inuit to have a strong sense of pride and identify, pursue higher education, and speak and write our Inuit language.

The KIA offers a program for Kitikmeot Inuit children to support school readiness. Eligible children attending school in the Kitikmeot Region will receive their packages at school (born January 1, 2021 – December 31, 2021 - Currently in Kindergarten). Eligible children (born in 2021) residing outside the Kitikmeot Region will receive packages by application. Cambridge Bay, Nunavut – October 8, 2026 – Agnico Eagle Mines Limited ("Agnico Eagle") and the Kitikmeot Inuit Association ("KIA") are pleased to announce the signing of renewed Inuit Agreements for the Hope Bay project. The agreements establish a framework to support the redevelopment of the Hope Bay project, expected to become one of Canada's most important new mines in the next five years, while promoting Inuit participation, workforce advancement and business opportunities in the Kitikmeot Region.
