💧 Bringing Clean Water and Hope to Ly Tôn Village, Quảng Trị, Vietnam
Through the kindness and generosity of Five Islands RV Campground in Nova Scotia, which funded the full cost of drilling three water wells and constructing washing areas, the Children of Vietnam Benevolent Foundation (CVBF) is delighted to share the successful completion of this meaningful clean-water project in Ly Tôn Village.
Located in the remote mountainous region of Đakrông District, near the Laos border, Ly Tôn is home to 75 households of the Vân Kiều ethnic minority. Families face challenging living conditions, limited livelihood opportunities, and increasingly difficult access to essential resources.
For years, residents have depended on natural streams and rivers for their daily water needs. During the dry season, scorching heat causes water sources to dry up. During the rainy season, contaminated water, flooding, and landslides create serious health risks and can isolate the community. Many families depend on cassava farming, where low yields and low selling prices make it difficult to provide for their children.
Bringing water to Ly Tôn was far from easy.
After two months of effort and drilling at six different locations, the team encountered solid granite. When conventional hydraulic drilling failed, they had to switch to machine-cutting methods, facing tremendous technical challenges and difficult working conditions.
Yet, they did not give up.
Finally, all three wells successfully yielded water! This achievement is a testament to the perseverance, dedication, and compassion of everyone involved.
On behalf of CVBF and our generous supporters, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to Mr. Đê and his construction team, Teacher Nhã, and Teacher Văn Anh for their tireless efforts, determination, and unwavering commitment to bringing this project to completion.
Our heartfelt thanks also go to Five Islands RV Campground for making this project possible through their extraordinary generosity. These three wells and washing areas represent far more than a source of water. They bring better hygiene, improved health, relief from daily hardships, and renewed hope for the families and children of Ly Tôn Village.
Sometimes, the greatest gift is something we may take for granted every day: clean water. Today, thanks to your kindness and the dedication of our team in Vietnam, this precious gift has become a reality for a community that needs it so much.💧
Together, we are bringing more than water. We are bringing hope, dignity, and a brighter future. ❤️
