Facilitated by Lyle Hirowatari and Alex Rayfuse-Okada, this engaging round-table discussion will explore how to lead effective meetings. Facilitators will walk participants through practical strategies for creating an engaging environment for collaboration and encouraging meaningful participation to inspire results.
Whether you're leading a committee, board, workplace team, or community group, this session will provide tools and insights to help turn meetings into opportunities for connection and effective decision making.

With years of community leadership, Lyle Hirowatari served as an RCMP Auxiliary member, alongside active involvement in several organizations and the Capacity Building Initiative with the NAJC. He spent 40 years in the heavy duty mechanical and parts person trades, and 23 years as a trade’s instructor and department chairperson. He also contributed to governance as a senator and member of the Educational Planning Committee, and is now semi-retired, working in a local marine shop.
Alex Okuda-Rayfuse is the current NAJC Young Leaders Director/Committee Chair, and Vice President of the Ottawa Japanese Community Association (OJCA). As a community builder, Alex's passion is connecting and empowering members of the Japanese Canadian community. Professionally, Alex works at Elections Canada as a Chief with the Alternative Voting Methods branch.
