The Save Movement is growing and it's time for us to do something about it here in Calgary. I would love to create a strong group of advocates to join me in bearing witness and documenting the condition of these animals as they show up to these "facilities," including Lilydales, Riverside Packers, Jarvis Industries Canada, and potentially more. "This mass-based, grass-roots animal justice movement
started in 2010, and has grown steadily since. It is comprised of many different Save Groups”around the world who come together in their communities to bear witness to the suffering of farmed animals as they are sent to their violent deaths. By bearing witness we hope to expose the realities of modern animal agriculture, and encourage people to live a more compassionate life by becoming vegan. All of the Save Group use a love-based approach towards everyone involved, including slaughterhouse workers and truckers." As some of you may know Canada has the worst livestock transporation laws in the Western world where it currently allows for cattle to be in transit for 52 hours without access to food or water, while the maximum for pigs and chickens is 36 hours. This is horrifying - and I think it's important that more people become aware of these regulations and can see it for themselves. These animals endure a lifetime of pain, and misery, and then their last day is filled with absolute torture, only to be consumed and forgotten about within 5 minutes. We owe it to them.
“When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to him who suffers, and try to help.” – Leo Tolstoy
