🎃🍂 CUPE Local 4731 Family Fun Day at Cobb’s! 🍂🎃

What an amazing day with our CUPE Local 4731 members and their families at Cobb’s Adventure Park!

We had a fantastic turnout, and it was wonderful to see so many members and their loved ones come together for a day filled with fun, laughter, and great memories!

Events like these are a great reminder that our union is about more than just the workplace. It's also about building connections, strengthening our community, and celebrating the people who make our Local so special.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and to the CUPE 4731 Social Committee who put this together and made the day such a success! We hope you all had as much fun as we did! ❤️

Supporting Our WRC Members and the 100 for 100 Campaign! ✊

CUPE Local 4731 is proud to support the Workers' Resource Centre (WRC) and their incredible 100 for 100 Campaign!

WRC is one of our long-standing bargaining units within CUPE Local 4731, and we are proud to represent the dedicated workers who, alongside their leadership, provide essential support and advocacy to workers across Alberta.

Since 2004, WRC has helped Alberta workers recover over $100 million in unpaid wages, benefits, and other entitlements! This is an incredible achievement and a testament to the dedication and hard work of WRC's staff and leadership.

To celebrate this milestone, WRC has launched its 100 for 100 Campaign, raising funds to continue supporting Alberta workers who need help navigating workplace challenges.

🗳️ Alberta Referendum: Advance Voting Starts Today!

Advance voting for Alberta's October 19 referendum runs from October 13 to 17, with the final voting day on Monday, October 19.

As workers in the social services sector, we know how important decisions made by our provincial government are for our workplaces, the services we provide, and the communities we support.

CUPE Alberta and other labour organizations have been raising concerns about the referendum and its potential impacts on workers, public services, and the people who rely on them.

This is amazing, great work Manitoba! Paving the road for all of us.

Starting on October 1, employers will not be allowed to request sick notes for short term absences from work unless a worker misses:

- more than a consecutive week of work; or
- more than a total of 10 scheduled workdays in a given calendar year, even if those days are spread out.

When workers are home sick with a minor illness, they should focus on feeling better, not on dragging themselves to the doctor’s office to get a sick note while possibly infecting others with their illness.

These new limits on when employers can ask for sick notes are good news for working people and good news for our health care system, because doctors will no longer have to waste so much time on writing pointless notes.

If/when employers do request sick notes outside of these restricted periods, they will be required to reimburse workers for the cost. You can find out more at mfl.ca/yourrights/
