South Sudan’s Independence Celebration on July 9, 2023

Ref: Invitation to Celebrate the Independence of South Sudan

Dear: South Sudanese and Friends,

This message aims to announce the Independence of the Nation of South Sudan and declare the significance of unity on this Heritage Day to the entire South Sudanese community of Calgary. The leadership of the South Sudanese Community is inviting people to celebrate the Independence of South Sudan. We are extending our heartfelt invitation to join our upcoming Independence Celebration of the 12th Independence Anniversary of the Republic of South Sudan, dedicated to honoring the hard-won freedom of our Nation. Yes, 12 years ago, the South Sudanese Canadians voted on a referendum which resulted in the declaration of July 9, 2011, the Independence of South Sudan.

The Independence Celebration aims to unite and uplift our community, celebrating our journey and resilience in the face of adversity. The event will feature various activities and performances that highlight our cultural heritage and promote a sense of unity and belonging. We will raise our flags high, sing our national anthem proudly, and engage in thought provoking speeches and reflections on the significance of our journey in South Sudan, and Canada as citizens of Calgary.

We will celebrate our community strength and resilience, which brings immense comfort to our community members who are facing various challenges and struggles as we adapt to a new environment. Our togetherness has the power to provide solace and instill hope, reminding our community members of their inherent worth and the importance of unity and resilience. Your attendance and participation at the event will not only honor our community but will also serve as a source of inspiration.

Copied,

It is with great sadness that the family of Latjor Tuel announce his passing on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the age of 41 years.

Latjor was a father, uncle, brother, son and member of our community. Latjor came to Canada almost 20 years ago looking for a better life and opportunity. He was a hard working man and an amazing man with a big heart; who would work hard to provide for both his family in Canada and South Sudan A man dedicated to his community known to many as some who inspired joy to those around him.

Latjor was an amazing man with a big heart. He was someone who loved to make people smile. He could put a smile on your face even if you were having your worst day.
