🌟 A Living Legacy of Service – Heartfelt Thanks to Honourable MIKE SHAIKH 🌟

There are people who achieve success, and there are people who use their success to uplift others. Honourable MIKE SHAIKH has done both.

On behalf of the Canadian Guidance Association, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for honoring us with your presence at the Connect – Bloom & Grow Program on May 16, 2026.

A recipient of the Order of Canada and numerous other prestigious honours, Mike Shaikh is a visionary business leader, philanthropist, and community builder whose life's work has left an enduring impact on Calgary, Alberta, and Canada. Through decades of leadership, generosity, and volunteer service, he has championed education, literacy, healthcare, public safety, social justice, community development, and philanthropy.

Adding to his many accomplishments, Mount Royal University recently announced (May 21, 2026) that Mike Shaikh will receive an Honorary Doctorate at Convocation 2026—one of the highest honours the university can bestow. This recognition celebrates his extraordinary contributions to community service, leadership, volunteerism, and nation-building.

Educated as a Chartered Accountant, Mike has used his expertise to strengthen countless organizations and initiatives. His distinguished leadership includes serving as Chair of the Calgary Police Commission, Director of the Alberta Securities Commission, Director of the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority, Treasurer and Director of the Canadian Paralympic Foundation, Director of Alberta Children's Hospital, and leadership roles with numerous public, private, and charitable organizations. Through these contributions, he has advanced public safety, healthcare excellence, corporate governance, financial integrity, and community well-being.

What truly sets Mike apart is not only his remarkable accomplishments, but also his humility, kindness, mentorship, and unwavering support for others. His ability to inspire, encourage, and empower people from all walks of life has earned him the admiration and respect of our community.

His presence and words of wisdom at our program were a powerful reminder that meaningful leadership is measured not by titles or awards, but by the positive impact we make in the lives of others.

Thank you, Mike, for sharing your time, wisdom, and encouragement. Your legacy continues to inspire individuals, strengthen communities, and create opportunities for future generations.

Your legacy is not only reflected in the honours you have received—it lives in the hearts of the people, organizations, and communities you have empowered, including the Canadian Guidance Association.

"Some people leave footprints. Others leave pathways for generations to follow. Thank you, MIKE SHAIKH, for lighting the way."

Some people enter a room and leave an impression.
Some enter hearts and leave inspiration for generations.

Canadian Guidance Association were profoundly honoured to welcome to our event "Connect, Bloom and Grow" — a visionary scientist, global innovator, and one of the brightest minds making humanity proud across the world.

From becoming the first Pakistani scientist to connect living brain cells to a silicon chip through the revolutionary Neurochip innovation, to opening new doors of hope for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, epilepsy, and brain-machine technologies — Dr. Naweed Syed’s journey is nothing short of historic. His work is not only transforming science, but touching and saving countless lives globally.

A recipient of Pakistan’s prestigious Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and Canada’s distinguished Canada-150 Medal, along with numerous international honours, his achievements speak volumes. Yet what makes him truly extraordinary is his humility, grace, and beautiful character. Despite standing among the giants of science and technology, he carries himself with unmatched simplicity and kindness.

For our youth, newcomers, and community members, team and volunteers your presence was more than an honour — it was motivation, hope, and a living reminder that passion, dedication, and knowledge can change the world.

Thank you, Dr. Naweed Syed, for blessing our gathering with your wisdom and presence. You are a true pride of Pakistan, a pride of Canada, and an inspiration for humanity.

Infinite prayers for your long, healthy, and impactful life. May God continue elevating your ranks and allow your work to benefit millions more around the world.
