Rise Calgary is raising $1 million for a permanent home. And one anonymous donor has started us off with $250,000. 🧡

For over 25 years, we've helped Calgarians catch up on rent and bills, so one hard month doesn't cost them their home. With the cost of living where it is, that help matters more than ever.

We've always rented, and our rent keeps going up. A space of our own means more privacy for the people we serve and more of our budget going to programs, not rent.

The harm of residential schools didn't end when the schools closed. It still shapes housing, income and health for many families in our city, and we see that in our work every day.

We were so excited to join the Rise team last night for their Annual General Meeting and to share a closer look at the work we’ve been building together.

It was a great opportunity to see the impact of this partnership in action — from the people behind the work to the tools and systems helping Rise continue to respond to growing demand.

We’re proud of what we’ve been able to build alongside the Rise team, and even more excited about what’s still ahead.

By the time someone reaches out for help, they've often already told their story more times than they should have to.

We've spent the past year working to change that. Together with Buoyancy Works, we've built a case management system shaped around how our team actually works, so a client's history and next steps are shared across the whole team and people don't have to start over or retell the hard parts to every new face.

On Tuesday, September 22, we're opening our doors to show you how it works and what it means for the people we serve. Come see how Rise is working differently, meet the team, and stay to say hello. It's free and drop-in, so come by any time between 5 and 7 PM.

Great things happen when people from all walks of life come together to help their community. 💙

This summer, Yvonne joined our small team through the Canada Summer Jobs program, coming to us from a background in the biological sciences. From day one, she treated everyone who walked through our doors with kindness and care. After preparing for her client-facing role, she sat alongside our clients and helped them navigate the complex systems of social assistance.

Front-line social service is a team effort, and the values that matter most—compassion, patience, and a real commitment to the people we serve—aren't limited to any one field.

Yvonne, thank you for everything. We wish you all the best as you explore what's next! 🌱
