**Help Neighbours Connect—and Make Membership Matter!**

The **Hidden Valley Community Association is looking for a volunteer Membership Director** to help residents discover the benefits of belonging to their community association.

If you enjoy meeting people, staying organized, and finding ways to offer more value to your neighbours, this could be a rewarding way to get involved.

**In this volunteer board role, you will:**

- Keep memberships organized and answer membership questions.
- Manage our membership platform and help make joining and renewing easy.
- Encourage new memberships and follow up on renewals.
- Work with event organizers to welcome residents and offer opportunities to sign up.
- Build relationships with businesses to secure useful member discounts and benefits.
- Share membership updates with the Board and attend meetings required by our bylaws.
- Support and promote HVCA and our community.

**You don’t need previous board experience.** An approachable manner, reliable follow-through, and a willingness to learn can make a meaningful difference.

🎃 OPERATION BOO: A LITTLE HALLOWEEN SPIRIT, A WHOLE LOT OF HEART! 🇨🇦❤️

This Halloween, let's do something BOO-tiful for our Canadian Veterans! 🇨🇦

Join the Hidden Valley Community Association at our annual Walk of the Pumpkins, where we're turning Halloween fun into an opportunity to give back to those who have given so much for our country.

🧡 OPERATION BOO – HELP US SUPPORT OUR VETERANS!

We're collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations in support of Veterans' food banks, helping fill their shelves as we approach Remembrance Day.

Our Canadian Veterans have served our country through wars, peacekeeping missions and countless sacrifices. And for many, the battles don't end when they return home.

Some continue to face physical injuries, mental health challenges and financial hardship.

They were there for us. Now it's our turn to be there for them. ❤️

🥫 Bring a non-perishable food donation.

💰 Make a monetary contribution if you're able.

🎃 Enjoy the annual Walk of the Pumpkins with your neighbours!

Every donation, big or small, makes a difference.

On November 11, we'll proudly wear our poppies and say Lest We Forget.

But this November 1, let's put those words into action.

Let's fill more than candy bags this Halloween. Let's fill Veterans' food-bank shelves!

Help Turn Community Generosity into Lasting Impact!

The Hidden Valley Community Association is looking for a volunteer Fundraising Director to help fund the spaces, programs, and experiences that bring our neighbours together.

If you enjoy building relationships, finding opportunities, and inspiring people to support their community, this could be your place on our team.

In this volunteer board role, you will:

Encourage donations, charitable giving, and philanthropic involvement.

Build sponsorships and partnerships with local businesses, community stakeholders, and philanthropic supporters.

Seek major gifts and contributions of funds, materials, services, and expertise.

Sell advertising around our outdoor rink.

Organize fundraising casinos with support from the Volunteer Director.

Work with the Parks Director to fund community park development and improvements.

Research and apply for grants.

Attend required Board meetings and champion HVCA and our community.

You don’t need to be a professional fundraiser. Initiative, organization, and a willingness to connect with others are valuable starting points.

Your efforts can help turn someone’s generosity into a park improvement, a community program, or an opportunity for neighbours to come together.

Help Your Community Get Moving! Become HVCA’s Sports Director

You don’t need to be an athlete to help neighbours connect through sport. If you enjoy bringing people together, staying organized, and making recreation more welcoming, this volunteer board role could be for you!

The Hidden Valley Community Association’s Sports Director helps create opportunities for residents of different ages, abilities, and experience levels to get active and feel included.

In this role, you will:

Work with sports providers and community organizations to bring programs to Hidden Valley.

Help organize inclusive community sports days and events.

Support the Facilities team in caring for our fields, rinks, and other sports spaces.

Keep community sports equipment organized, maintained, and ready to use.

Coordinate with the Treasurer to ensure sports partners pay agreed fees.

Attend required board meetings and help promote HVCA and its activities.

Bring your ideas, enthusiasm, and willingness to work with others. Your contribution can help turn a game, a practice, or an afternoon outdoors into stronger neighbourhood connections.

We recieved this email from a young community member "My name is Riker Katchur, and I am a 12-year-old who lives in Hidden Valley!

Since 2023, I have partnered with Lifewater Canada, a top 10 Canadian Charity, and have raised money to drill clean water four wells in Haiti - at a cost of $5500 for each well - helping over 1800 Haitians have clean drinking water! I have raised these funds through YouTube videos, bake sales, lemonade stands (you may have seen me set up on the corner near my house!), walkathons, silent auctions, and door-to-door canvassing in our neighborhood.

I now have a goal to raise $5500 to drill a new well every year., so I am running a silent auction this November. Every $1 I raise provides a child in Haiti with clean water for 1 year. Do you think the HVCA newsletter would be interested in sharing my story? Or a link to my silent auction or webpage? or both?"
