Volunteers Needed – Community Cleanup Aug 9 2026

Two Time Slots: 9:00am- 12:15pm and 12:00pm-2:00pm
Two Roles: Lifters – Volunteers able to lift and carry heavy objects. Traffic Directors
(Did you know tossing Ikea furniture is fun?, moderate strength required)

The trucks will be there until 2pm, but 1pm – 2pm is cleaning up whoever is left in line and browsing Buy Nothing Table.
Community Cleanup Info:
Besides the city garbage trucks, there is also: metal and electronics recycling, gifting to Buy Nothing (learn more) and donations for Cerebral Palsy Alberta (all items must be in clean, working condition), happy to take Clothing & Textiles, Small Appliances, Electronics, Toys & Books, Home Goods & Decorations, Kitchenware & Dining, Miscellaneous Household Items like jewelry and tools, Sporting Goods and Exercise Equipment. If you’d like to buy it at Value Village, they’ll likely take it. But no furniture, no broken items, see the detailed list of items desired and not here.
Items not accepted:
Hazardous Waste, (did you know Varsity Multi-Service Centre, 3400 37 St. N.W. accepts most Hazardous Waste)
Tires: Free to drop off (12 max, must be off rims) at City Eco Centres, Spyhill Eco Centre closest
Recycling Blue Bin Material –Drop at Market Mall Community Depot NE corner
Compost/Green Bin: Bag up if you have extra or ask a neighbour
Freon containing appliances fee to drop at Spyhill Eco Centre
