A 31-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges following a fatal head-on crash in Ottawa's west end Wednesday evening.

We will be holding our Annual General Meeting on January 14, 2026, at 6:30 pm in the CPS North Service Centre, 6528 - 11 Street NE.

You are cordially invited to attend.

We will be hearing from A***n Sharma, a high school student who has developed Ai for identifying impaired drivers. He has been internationally recognized for his achievements. As well, we will hear from Traffic Inspector Rob Patterson and from Sheriff Brett Stamm.

We will hopefully be electing two additional Board Members at the end of the AGM.

Today is National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day & we are reminding Calgary drivers that impaired driving is never acceptable.

ℹ️ So far this year in Calgary:
👉 Impairment was a factor in 5 out of 35 fatal collisions
👉 109 criminal code charges have been laid for impaired driving or refusal to provide a sample
👉 Officers have issued 2,170 immediate roadside sanctions

🤝 We all have a part to play in education. Choosing to drive sober, or helping someone else make that choice, can mean the difference between someone coming home safely or not at all.

Calgary police launched a checkstop Saturday night on Stoney Trail -- and it didn’t take long to identify impaired drivers on National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day.
