The Big Hearted Mavericks is a group of 25 local businessmen dedicated to charitable fundraising and camaraderie!

The Mavericks Chuckwagon Racing Team is dedicated to meeting
2 Objectives:

1) To raise significant funds to actively support Calgary and area
Children-focused not-for-profit agencies and individual needs.

2) To promote a spirit of fellowship and camaraderie among all Mavericks members

Our Golf Tournament has officially been moved to June 16th due to weather, but don’t worry… it’s still the same great event, just a different day. 🤠

We appreciate everyone’s flexibility and understanding and can’t wait to see you out on the course for a day of golf, community, and giving back.

MEET THE MEMBER: R.J. Carron ❤️

This week we’re shining the spotlight on R.J. Carron, a proud Maverick since 2020, wine enthusiast, sports fan, business owner, and dedicated community supporter.

From helping make our Golf Tournament such a success to supporting every cause we take on, R.J. embodies what it means to be a Big Hearted Maverick.

Fun fact: He has a university degree in Military History!

The Big Hearted Mavericks came together at to help pack 689 food boxes for families, friends, roommates and individuals across our city.

Because of their contribution, nearly 1900 people in the community will have access to meals and support this week alone.

Proud to be part of a city that shows up for each other!

This past week we spent the evening with to help pack fresh food boxes for families across Calgary❤️

This lovely nonprofit works to reduce hunger and improve access to healthy food through programs like the Good Food abox, which provided affordable fresh produce to families and communities across the city. Their mission is simple… reducing hunger today and educating tomorrow.

Proud to spend the day giving back alongside an organization making a real impact, one box at a time ❤️

Stampede is right around the corner and that means our Bulldogger event is back!!! 🤠

The Mavericks are bringing the energy to on July 8 for annual Bulldogger Stampede Event! All proceeds go to the Big Hearted Mavericks. foundation in support of Calgary children’s charities. Come party for a good cause and lock in those early bird tickets before they’re gone!

At the heart of the Big Hearted Mavericks is a simple mission: support children and families in our community who need it most.

Through the Big Hearted Mavericks Foundation, funds raised from events and partnerships go directly to Calgary organizations that create real change in young lives. From literacy programs and recovery support to inclusive recreation and youth development, every dollar raised helps build stronger futures.

Organizations supported have included:

➡️The PREP Society Reading Program, helping individuals with Down syndrome build lifelong literacy skills

➡️Between Friends, creating inclusive recreation opportunities for people with disabilitiesPacekids, providing therapy and education programs for children with diverse needs

➡️Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre, supporting youth on the path to recovery

➡️Community Kitchen, addressing food insecurity and strengthening families

➡️Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta – helping families facing childhood cancer with programs, camp experiences, and vital support

➡️Calgary Dolphins Swim Club – providing competitive swimming opportunities for athletes with disabilities.

Together, these partnerships are changing lives across Calgary.

Over the years, the Mavericks have helped raise millions of dollars for children’s charities and programs that give kids the support, opportunity, and community they deserve.

Big Hearted Mavericks is built on one simple belief. When you do good, you do it the right way.

Through the Society, we bring the community together to raise funds. Every charitable dollar is then transferred directly to the Foundation, where it’s carefully reviewed, approved, and distributed to children-focused programs across Calgary. With one of the lowest admin cost models in Alberta, transparency isn’t a promise. It’s our practice.

And we don’t believe in one-off giving.

We focus on thoughtful, long-term partnerships with trusted local organizations that have strong leadership, clear accountability, and a proven ability to create real change. That means stability for our partners. Confidence in planning. The ability to scale impact. And meaningful support for children and families year after year.
