Pokaiks Reconciliation Society Welcome to Pokaiks Reconciliation Society. Visit our website to learn more.

Our mission is to inspire reconciliACTION through arts and culture by working in collaboration with artists and community organizations to promoting healing and reconciliation.

03/15/2026

Pokaiks Reconciliation Society is inviting Indigenous artists in the Treaty 7 region to share stories through ART. Exploring lived experience, cultural knowledge, identity, memory, and connection to land & community.

We’ll select 6 artists (primarily visual art—welcome to writers, performers, and media artists too). Artists will gather, connect, and co-create a collaborative piece, guided by shared conversations and an Elder story visit.

📅 Residency: Dec 1, 2026 – Jan 31, 2027 (2 months)
• Create + exhibit existing and new work
• Community engagement: public hours, artist talks, workshops, and a community art piece
• Opening + Closing receptions
• February 2027 wrap-up report + exit survey

Artists will be paid fees for exhibiting their art, workshop facilitation, artists talks, and more! There is also a paid part-time position available for a project coordinator!

In partnership with Sparrow Arts Society and gratefully funded by Calgary Arts Development and the City of Calgary!

It would be helpful to have a few more volunteers sign up to do such thing as:
Supporting Elders
Supporting performers
Directing traffic
Helping after the event
And more!

Deep gratitude for all who support this event!

Some information about our Reconciliation Walk and Gathering on September 30th!

Join us in learning and growing, and walking for all Pokaiks (children) of the past, present, and future.

May we all heal our inner children and feel the essence of Truth and Reconciliation. When stories our told, the truth is known, and all people reconcile the past into a more healthy, happy and joyous future. One where all children — all over the world — have the opportunity to live the Good Life!

We walk, September 30th (National day for Truth and Reconciliation) from the south side of the peace bridge to Contemporary Calgary where we then have our annual gathering of story telling, wisdom, celebration, and community.

All are welcome!
