Tuesday Nooners

Tuesday Nooners We are a Toastmasters business lunch group meeting every Tuesday in person & via Zoom. Anyone who is a strong leader has to first be an effective communicator.

Toastmasters is a place where you develop and grow - both personally and professionally. You join a community of learners, and in Toastmasters meetings we learn by doing. Whether you're an executive or a stay-at-home parent, a college student or a retiree, you will improve yourself; building skills to express yourself in a variety of situations. You'll open up a world of new possibilities: giving

better work presentations; leading meetings - and participating in them - more confidently; speaking more smoothly off the cuff; even handling one-on-one interactions with family, friends and colleagues more positively. In Toastmasters you will hone your speaking skills, and you will develop leadership abilities - through evaluations, listening, mentoring, serving as club officers and filling roles in club meetings. You will take those leadership skills out into the world, running businesses, mentoring youths, organizing fund-raisers, coaching teams and heading up families.

Toastmasters is for more than public speaking.

Take a look at the image below 👇

Most people think Toastmasters is just about giving speeches.

But when you break it down, it’s built around five core competencies:

- Public Speaking
- Interpersonal Communication
- Strategic Leadership
- Management
- Confidence

Public speaking is just one piece of the puzzle.

What you’re really developing are the skills that matter in the real world:

- Leading when things are uncertain
- Communicating when it actually matters
- Influencing without authority
- Building confidence through action - not theory

That’s exactly what we focus on at Tuesday Nooners Toastmasters (TNT).

Whether you're:

- Looking to grow as a leader

- Build confidence in high-pressure situations

- Or become a more effective communicator

We meet every Tuesday at Memorial Park Library in Calgary.

Come check it out.

Last meeting, we leaned into a little St. Paddy’s Day spirit 🍀

It was a special one—full of energy, great conversations, and a big moment as we welcomed our newest member, Sienna, to the club.

We also got to witness Shazin’s very first speech—the Ice Breaker.
It’s one of the most exciting and meaningful milestones in Toastmasters. The moment where someone steps up, shares their story, and begins their journey into confident, intentional communication.

There’s something powerful about that first step.

If improving your speaking, confidence, or presence has been on your mind—this is your sign.

Great energy at our Toastmasters International Speech Contest.

A big congratulations to the three contestants who stepped up and delivered thoughtful, powerful speeches:

🥇 Erick Hunt – Redpath Mining Inc.
🥈 Robert Leeds – Vista Projects
🥉 Graham Kennelly – AlbertaRE.com

Erick and Graham both joined the Tuesday Nooners Toastmasters club around the same time, so it was great to kick off the contest together. Robert, a seasoned speaking veteran, closed out the competition with a strong finish.

Erick earned the top votes and will go on to represent the Tuesday Nooners at the Toastmasters Regional Speech Competition on March 21, 2026. Looking forward to cheering him on!

Public speaking is one of the most valuable skills anyone can develop—for leadership, business, and life. If building confidence in speaking has been on your list, Toastmasters is an incredible place to start.

Tuesday Nooners Toastmasters helps Toy Mountain with a $425 donation in the form of Amazon Gift Cards for the teenagers. Our President Robert Leeds had the pleasure of bringing some joy to those who are usually forgot amongst the mountain of toys.

Thank you South Pointe Toyota for being a drop-off location and a big thank you for the generosity of the TNT members. We beat last year's donation by $75 ;)

Our TNT tribe had a great wind-down to the holidays. Although our numbers were dwindled by the flu and colds, we still enjoyed good conversation & company at the Speak Easy: Pritchett Richard!
