The Glamorgan Community Association (4207 41 Ave SW Calgary AB T3E 1G2), with the City of Calgary, is hosting a Community Cleanup event in the parking lot of the Community Hall on JUNE 14 from 9am - 2pm (last drop off 1:45pm). This event provides free disposal and recycling services for residents. Come dispose of unusable or broken household items the right way.
Accepted items (City garbage trucks):
-Non-donatable furniture (e.g. mattresses, sofas, chairs, desks, dressers, outdoor furniture)
-Oversized non-donatable household items (e.g. broken blinds, grandfather clocks, taxidermy items)
-Toilets, sinks, and similar fixtures
-Cabinetry
-Broken recreational items (e.g. old treadmills)
-Lumber from old fences and decks
-Carpets and rugs
-Ceramics
Unaccepted items (City garbage trucks):
-Car batteries
-Electronics
-Tires
-Metal
-Barbecues
-Lawnmowers
-Small appliances
-Microwaves
-Glass (e.g. windowpanes, glass tabletops)
-Household appliances containing freon (e.g. refrigerators, freezers)
-Liquids (e.g. including cooking oil)
-Household hazardous waste (e.g. propane tanks, paint)
-Household chemicals (e.g. gardening, cleaning, automotive chemicals)
-Sod or dirt
-Railway ties
-Commercial waste
-Yard waste, or green cart material
-Recyclables or blue cart material
There will also be trucks to pick up metal recycling, electronic recyling, paper recycling, and there will be a give and take table.
We’re still in need of a few volunteers for the event. There’s no heavy lifting involved and no dumping trash … just helping move traffic through the parking lot.
