September 30th is Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It’s a time to remember the children who never returned home and to honour Survivors and their families. Reconciliation is rooted in the courage to listen, the humility to acknowledge past and ongoing harms, and an unwavering commitment to upholding the truth while confronting denialism in all forms. I stand in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples today and every day, committing myself to the essential, ongoing work of truth-telling and meaningful reconciliation.

Some good news for people about affording the costs of applying for the Disability Tax Credit...

Starting today, Canada Disability Benefit recipients will receive a lump sum supplemental payment of $150 to help offset the cost associated with obtaining the disability tax credit.

There is no need to apply for this payment – if you have received the benefit, you will get the payment automatically.

Sign languages connect millions of people around the world and are an essential part of Deaf culture, identity, and communication.

On International Day of Sign Languages, we recognize the importance of sign languages, including American Sign Language (ASL), Langue des signes Québécoise (LSQ), and Indigenous sign languages in removing barriers to accessing information, services, and public spaces.

Want to take action? Learn how to introduce yourself in a sign language. It is also important to arrange sign language services for events that persons with disabilities may attend.
