Our Homicide Unit continues to investigate the deaths of two people in the northeast community of Temple yesterday.
📍 On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at approximately 2:05 p.m., police attended a home in Temple to check on the welfare of a resident. Upon entering the home, officers found a woman & a child deceased.
Following autopsies conducted today, Thursday, June 11, 2026, by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the death of the boy, aged 7, has been deemed a homicide. The death of his mother, age 42, was deemed to be su***de. Police believe she is responsible for her son’s death & are not looking for any other suspects.

Out of respect for the impacted family, identities of the individuals are not being released.
In this case, there was no reported history of family violence.

🔷 The LUNA Child and Youth Advocacy Centre provides co-ordinated support for children and youth who have experienced abuse, as well as their families. Referrals to LUNA are made through partner agencies, including the CPS Child Abuse Unit.
