Huge congratulations to Team Purvis – Alberta's provincial wheelchair curling champions!
On Sunday in Cochrane, Team Purvis staged an thrilling comeback to defeat Team Smart and claim the Alberta Wheelchair Provincial Championships title. What an exciting final! Both Calgary Wheelchair Curling Association (CWCA) teams delivered outstanding performances, showcasing skill, determination, and sportsmanship.

This victory highlights the strength and growth of our wheelchair curling program in Alberta – proving we can reach new heights while keeping the focus on fun, friendship, and community spirit.

A big thank you also goes to the formidable teams from the Edmonton Rocks Wheelchair Curling Association – Team Kuchelyma and Team McMullan – for being such strong competitors and helping make the tournament a resounding success. Wishing their association continued growth and great results ahead.

Team Purvis now proudly carries Alberta's colours to the 2026 Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championships, taking place April 27–May 2 at the Boucherville Curling Club in Quebec.

Let's rally behind them – good luck, Team Purvis! Bring home some national hardware! 🥌♿🇨🇦

Several our members competed at the Alberta Stick Curling championships in Red Deer this past weekend. They were the only wheelchair players from within the province competing amongst a solid group of seasoned stick curlers. Terry and Martin lost in the quarterfinals to the winning team, Wendy and Fran won Silver a fabulous accomplishment. And Steve and Jack lost a couple of games by 2 points and finished out of the playoffs. Congrats to Steve on his first curling competition!!
This was a good warm up session to the upcoming Wheelchair Provincial playdowns in Cochrane Mar 13-15, where our club will have 2 teams competing.
