The L’Arche Calgary Art Show begins this Monday, and we could not be more excited to share it with the community.

Our Core Members love creating art, and we wanted to share some of the joy, connection, and creativity that fills the studio every day. Every piece featured in the L’Arche Calgary Art Show reflects the care and love that went into making it.

The show opens at cSpace Marda Loop, and we would love for you to experience the work in person.

Today we’re sharing a thoughtful reflection from Doreen, a Live-in Assistant at Haeremai house, on what it means to live life in community at L’Arche Calgary. 💙

Life Lived in a Community

Living in a community means more than simply sharing the same place with others. It is about building relationships, supporting one another, and creating a sense of belonging. In the L’Arche Calgary community, people celebrate together during joyful moments and stand beside each other during difficult times. Through kindness, respect, and cooperation, individuals learn that they are not alone.

Community life also helps people grow. By participating in activities, helping the vulnerable, and sharing experiences, people develop confidence, understanding, and friendship. Every person brings unique gifts, talents, and ideas that make the community stronger and more meaningful.

A well-lived community is one where everyone feels valued and included. People are encouraged to listen, care, and work together for the good of all. In the L’Arche community, differences are respected, and every individual has the opportunity to contribute and thrive.

Ultimately, life lived in a community teaches us the importance of compassion, unity, and human connections. It reminds us that together, we can create a place where everyone feels accepted, supported, loved and a deep sense of belonging.

What a fantastic day trip to Vulcan, Alberta!

On Saturday, 17 of us from L’Arche Calgary boldly ventured to the Trek Station for a one-of-a-kind Star Trek experience. Between the hilarious green screen photos, lots of laughter, and unforgettable memories, this trip was truly out of this world.

Thank you to everyone who made the day so special. We had an amazing time exploring, connecting, and sharing a unique cultural adventure together.

We’re thrilled to announce the upcoming L’Arche Calgary Art Show!

From June 1 to June 6 artwork created by our Core Members will be on public display and for sale at cSpace Marda Loop (29 Avenue SW, Calgary, AB).

Every purchase directly supports our art program and helps sustain inclusive, meaningful creative opportunities. Many of the pieces were created in our art studio, where our Core Members explore their creativity and develop their unique styles.

There is also an opportunity to meet the artists on June 5 during our Open House! From 5:45 to 7:45 PM you can connect with the artists, hear the stories behind the work, and explore additional prints and merchandise.

What an unforgettable day at the 2026 Run for L’Arche!

A huge THANK YOU to all the runners, volunteers, donors, and supporters who made this event so special. Your energy and enthusiasm turned it into something truly meaningful, and together, we raised over $66,000 to support L’Arche Calgary’s incredible homes and programs that build belonging, dignity, and connection.

We’ve put together this video filled with hundreds of photos to relive the day. So many smiles, moments, and memories captured!

Last Friday, a group of us visited Kirk’s Alpaca Farm, and what an unforgettable experience it was! We had the chance to feed and spend time with the alpacas, learn from the incredible owners, and soak up a truly beautiful day together.

Moments like these remind us how meaningful it is to connect, learn, and share in community ❤️

A HUGE thank you to the Calgary Italian Sportsmen's Dinner Association for sponsoring the 2026 Run for L'Arche! Not only did they provide support for run day operations - members also brought incredible energy and love during the event. It was absolutely amazing to work with such a wonderful local organization. Thank you, Calgary Italian Sportsmen's Dinner, for working to create a world where everyone belongs!
