Thank you Mikael Backlund and Calgary Flames for presenting this well-deserved Inclusion Award to DDRC Client, Keenan at our 2026 Inclusion Awards!

Over the past year, we have had the privilege of watching him come out of his shell and discover his confidence as a leader, friend, and valued member of our community.

One of the most meaningful examples of Keenan’s growth has been the way he welcomes others. He is often one of the first people to greet new Clients when they come into the office, helping them feel comfortable and included.

He introduces new Clients to his friends and peers and helps them find their place within the group. His willingness to make those connections has helped create a more welcoming environment where everyone has an opportunity to feel like they belong.

His kindness, leadership, willingness to try new things, and commitment to including those around him
embody the spirit of the Inclusion Awards.

Congratulations Keenan! You are the kind of teammate every team is lucky to have!

Thank you to everyone who came to our 28th annual Inclusion Awards last week for a night under the stars to celebrate DDRC clients, staff and community partners who have gone above and beyond to make the city of Calgary more inclusive for persons with developmental disabilities.

In the coming weeks, we will be sharing the incredible stories of this year’s winners not only in celebration, but also as a reminder that true inclusion does not need grand gestures or unlimited resources. True inclusion begins with small acts of kindness brought together over time.

✨ Some moments are simply too good not to share!

We're still smiling as we look back at this year's DDRC Stampede Breakfast. 💙 From delicious pancakes and great conversations to incredible community spirit and a dance floor full of joy, it was a morning to remember.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the event so special. And of course, a special shoutout to Chickweed who kept the party going with an unforgettable performance—and what they hilariously dubbed "synchronized wheelchairs!" 🤠💃♿

We're also so grateful to our wonderful VIP guests and community partners who stopped by to celebrate with us. We loved sharing this special morning with you all!

Inclusive gardening through Horticulture therapy 🌿

This week marked the beginning of our planting season as we installed two new raised garden beds on-site for clients to enjoy and use. These accessible beds are designed to support mobility challenges, making gardening more inclusive and accessible for everyone!

One of the raised beds has been designated as a native plant garden to help support local biodiversity and pollinators. The second bed will become our food garden, where clients can grow and enjoy fresh produce throughout the season.

This project was made possible through funding from the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, and we are extremely grateful for their support! Thank you for your continued support and interest in our Horticulture Therapy sessions, which are part of the Gardening in the Community Program.
