Workplace inclusion affects all of us. You may be an employee who needs accommodation, an employer supporting your team, or a co-worker helping create a respectful workplace.

October is Disability Employment Awareness Month. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of people with disabilities at work and to remember that barriers can keep people from fully participating.

The Alberta Human Rights Act protects employees from discrimination based on mental or physical disability, including disability related to illness or injury.

When workplaces remove barriers and provide accommodation when needed, people with disabilities can work with dignity, contribute their skills, and feel a stronger sense of belonging.

The Commission helps Albertans understand their rights and responsibilities through resources like the "Duty to accommodate human rights guide" and guidance on medical information in the workplace.
