Since 1978, ARBI has been dedicated to making life better for individuals with acquired brain injuries. The ARBI approach blends science and compassion to create hope for survivors. Thousands of individuals across Alberta have benefited from ARBI’s innovative treatment model. ARBI’s team of accomplished healthcare professionals and committed volunteers provide intensive rehabilitation through a variety of programs to help give brain injury survivors and their families a second chance at life.

$29,000 raised for brain injury and stroke survivors! 🧠🎉

A heartfelt thank you to Black Stallion Wines & Spirits, a family-owned business, for choosing ARBI as the beneficiary of their 3rd Annual Charity Fundraiser! A personal connection to brain injury inspired their decision to support the survivors and families we serve, making this generosity especially meaningful.

Some of our staff and board members had the opportunity to attend, and we had an amazing time! There was such a spirit of giving in the room, and it meant so much to see everyone come together in support of our community.

To the Black Stallion team and everyone who attended, donated and helped make the event a success, thank you. Your support will make a real difference in the lives of survivors and their families. We’re so grateful! 💜

🎨 Our first Art Class of the semester is in the books!

Our clients got creative at our Art Class this afternoon as they painted rocks and enjoyed some time together. From choosing colours and designs to putting their own ideas onto each rock, everyone had a chance to make something of their own.

We’re excited to see where the group takes their creativity throughout the rest of the season! 💜

🧡 Truth & Reconciliation

September 30 is a day to remember the children who never returned home, honour residential school Survivors, and recognize the lasting impacts on Indigenous families, communities, and generations.

Truth and Reconciliation calls on all of us to listen, learn, reflect, and take meaningful steps toward reconciliation.

We can practice reconciliation by learning about the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools, listening to Indigenous voices, supporting Indigenous-led initiatives, and continuing to reflect on our role in reconciliation.

At ARBI, we take this day as an opportunity to listen, learn, and reflect on the importance of creating communities rooted in dignity, respect, inclusion, and belonging.

We’re happy to have our recreation groups up and running again. These groups give our clients a chance to get together, take part in activities, connect with others, and enjoy some time together in a welcoming space.

What a day with the ARBI team! 💜

Our staff retreat on Thursday was such a great chance to come together, reflect, celebrate, and have some fun.

The day included staff updates, presentations, recognition of milestones and accomplishments, and of course a few very serious competitions, including a scavenger hunt, bake-off, and ARBI Olympics.

One of the best parts of days like this is seeing just how strong the culture at ARBI really is. You can feel the passion, care, humour, and sense of community between staff, and that energy carries directly into the work we do every day.

A huge thank you to everyone on the ARBI team for everything you bring to the organization and to the people we serve. We are so lucky to have such a dedicated group of people behind the work. 💜

The auction is live! 🙌

ARBI is honoured to be the beneficiary of Black Stallion Wines & Spirits’ 3rd Annual Charity Fundraiser, and their silent auction is officially open.

Black Stallion’s connection to brain injury recovery is deeply personal. After their son Nikita experienced a traumatic brain injury, the family saw firsthand how difficult it can be to find the right support after leaving the hospital. That experience inspired them to choose ARBI as this year’s charity partner and help raise both funds and awareness for recovery.

There are so many amazing items and experiences up for bid, including hotel stays, golf rounds, dining and entertainment experiences, winery experiences, and more. 🎉

Best of all, all proceeds from the silent auction go directly to ARBI, helping support rehabilitation and recovery for brain injury and stroke survivors and their families.

Thank you to our Cycle for Survivors 2026 matching donor, Jim Saunders. 💜🚴

Jim has been an advocate for ARBI for many years and has played an important role in the creation and growth of this campaign. Alongside Ross Gilker, Jim helped form Cycle Therapy, the event that would eventually become Cycle for Survivors, and he has been a rider and supporter from the very beginning.

His dedication to the ride even inspired our longest route, Jim’s Journey, 114 km. 🙌

Although Jim wasn’t able to ride with us this year, he continued to show his support by matching donations up to $7,500, helping create incredible momentum during the final stretch of the campaign.

Thank you so much, Jim. Supporters like you help make it possible for ARBI to continue providing meaningful rehabilitation and recovery support for brain injury and stroke survivors and their families.

When Plans Change, Community Steps In🧠✨

Ted, a brain injury & stroke survivor, advocate, and former ARBI client, was ready to cycle for his second year in support of ARBI for brain injury recovery. Unfortunately, unexpected travel issues meant he wasn’t able to make it that day. But his purpose of uplifting brain injury survivors still shined through.

Marilou, ARBI’s marketing coordinator, stepped forward and got on the bike for the very first time since her brain injury to honor Ted’s purpose. 🚲💜

What started as a change of plans turned into a special moment of survivors supporting survivors and showing up for a cause that means so much to both. This moment showcased the true values of what ARBI stands for: resilience, connection and community.
