Yesterday afternoon, at the Rundlelawn Diamonds in Calgary, our community came together in a way that words can barely capture. On behalf of Crystal Wyatt (Owen Landine) Sam Wyatt, Cody Wyatt, and Laura Wyatt, the family extends their deepest gratitude to every single person who came out to honour Austin Shields.

Your presence, your compassion, and your shared memories meant more than you may ever know.

A special thank‑you is also extended to Adam Smith — Sunridge Little League Alumni, former DA and UIC, and current District Administrator for District 3. Your support, leadership, and long‑standing connection to the Wyatt family have been instrumental in shaping the legacy that has grown across both the league and the district over the years.

The impact of the Wyatt name has been felt in countless ways — through mentorship, community building, and the spirit of baseball that has touched so many young athletes.

Yesterday, people came HOME.

People came to say goodbye.

But more importantly, family stood together, as family always does — in strength, in love, and in unwavering support, no matter the circumstance.

From those who gathered at the diamond, to the overwhelming number of condolences shared across the District’s Facebook and Instagram pages — collectively nearing 100,000 engagements — the outpouring of love for Austin has been profound. It is a testament to the lives he touched and the community that surrounds the Wyatt family.
Rest in Peace, Austin. May you be at peace, and may you watch over your mother, your family, and your friends. Your memory will continue to live on in every heart you’ve reached and every field you’ve ever stepped on.

In addition we will be asking all Fall Ball Teams (optional) to dedicate the first pitch in Austin’s name and memory

In Loving Memory of Austin Shields
September 21, 2002 – August 6, 2026
Alberta District 3 is deeply saddened by the passing of Austin Shields.
Austin's love and passion for baseball were evident from a young age. As a proud Sunridge Little League alumnus, he was a fixture on the diamonds at Rundle Lawn, where he spent countless hours throughout his Little League career developing his skills, building friendships, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Even as I write this, I still remember the small-framed young boy who worked so hard to become a catcher. He gave everything he had to the position, inning after inning, game after game. And he was damn good at it. His determination, toughness, and love for the game were evident to everyone who watched him play.
For someone so small in stature, he rarely missed a pitch. Time and time again, he would settle in behind the plate, receive the ball with confidence, and take pride in every inning he caught. What made Austin even more special was that his talent wasn't limited to catching. His ability as a pitcher was equally impressive, and he approached every opportunity on the mound with the same dedication, competitiveness, and passion that defined his love for baseball.
The friendships he forged, the memories he created, and the spirit he brought to the game will never be forgotten. Austin's impact reached far beyond the baseball field, and he will always be remembered by those whose lives he touched.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his mother, Crystal Wyatt, and to all of Austin's family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you mourn the loss of a beloved son, family member, and friend.
Austin's legacy will live on in the baseball community he loved so dearly, and his memory will forever remain a part of Alberta District 3 and the diamonds where his baseball journey began.

A Memorial Service will be held at Rundlelawn Senior Diamond on August 22 @ 230pm

Looks like we hit a home run… and filled the roster faster than expected!

Due to the incredible number of registrations, we have to close Fall Ball registration early. Any player who registers from now until August 7 will be placed on our waitlist.

We can’t thank everyone enough for the amazing support! We’re excited for another action-packed Fall Ball season and can’t wait to see everyone back on the diamond.

While our player roster is full, we’re still looking for coaches! Every great team needs someone in the dugout calling the plays. Without enough coaches, we can’t deliver the best possible experience for all of our players.

Think you’ve got what it takes to step up to the plate? Reach out for more information and help make this Fall Ball season a grand slam!
