Hosted at Casa and moderated by Lethbridge Board member Danielle Wintrip, we will be chatting with David Hoffos, Kels Valenzuela Delamarter, and StrudelBrand about their unique artistic practices, and the successes and challenges of being a media artist in Lethbridge.

David Hoffos received their BFA from the University of Lethbridge in 1994. Since 1992, Hoffos’s multi-disciplinary practice has been showcased in over 40 solo exhibitions at institutions in Canada, the U.S.A., Switzerland, Spain, and Portugal. Notable venues include the National Gallery of Canada, Montréal Museum of Fine Arts, Art Gallery of Ontario, Museum of Contemporary Art, Fundació Joan Miró - and the Southern Alberta Art Gallery where Hoffos’s monumental installation series Scenes from the House Dream debuted in 2009. They have received awards, including the Images Grand Prize in 2007, and the inaugural 2002 Sobey Art Award (2nd place).
Kels Valenzuela Delamarter (she/her) is a biracial Pilipino-Canadian filmmaker, writer, and digital artist based in Treaty 7 territory and in the city of Lethbridge, Alberta. She is the host and creator of the video podcast Q***r in Alberta and the co-director and co-producer of the upcoming documentary film, Beki na, Breadwinner Pa! on Telus Optik TV. Kels sits as a director and advisor on the board’s of the Canadian Museums Association, the BC Museums Association's 2SLGBTQIA+ Advisory Circle, and Telefilm Canada’s Q***ring the Screen. Through her work in heritage and film, Kels strives to share heartfelt, fun, and intersectional representations of life in Alberta today.
