Our Story
#SoapforHopeYYC started 3 1/2 years ago when we partnered with WestJet in collecting new travel hygiene from the flight crews on layover. We now also collect new & used travel sized soap & shampoo products collected by local hotels in our Caring Community Partner Program. These are put into Hygiene Kits, distributed to local shelters & community outreach programs in the Airdrie/Calgary, AB area as well as for international aid.
The hotel program, where we take used hotel hygiene products and sort, wash and reprocess with the help of local volunteers is where most of our products come from. We have 29 local hotels in our Caring Community Partner program and we are hoping more will join the cause of reducing the waste from the landfill of usable product so that we may help our communities most vulnerable populations. These hotels pay to be in our program allowing us to pick up from them and distribute the reprocessed hygiene products to 50 local shelters and community outreach programs in Airdrie, Calgary and Cochrane as well as provide International aid when required. Thank you for reading about us, we love helping people.
We accept new, used and empty hygiene bottles from local residents. Our program has kept 46, 750 soap bars and 34, 755 hygiene products out of the landfill in 2017.
