Meet Ed and Gaby.
Once a month, they come in and cook dinner for the girls at Haven's Way. They've become a familiar part of this place — two people the girls know by name, who turn up because they want to.
When we talk about the ripple effect, this is what we mean.
Safe Haven has never been one thing. It's a network of people who each take on a piece of it — the donors, the board, the staff who work the overnight shifts, the alumni who come back to tell the girls it gets better, and the volunteers like Ed and Gaby who make sure there's a good dinner on the table once a month. Nobody carries it alone. Everyone moves it forward.
Thirty years on, that's still how this works. One person does something. It reaches a girl. She goes on to build a life. And the ripple keeps going, far past where any of us can see it.
Sometimes it comes back, too. One of our youth made this drawing and gave it to Ed and Gaby — her own way of saying thank you, and proof that what they bring here doesn't go unnoticed.
