The Ukrainian Canadian Professional & Business Association of Calgary (UCPBA) is a registered non-profit Society in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

We are an association of Canadian business people and professionals of Ukrainian descent. Our Members participate in activities that advance our professional growth, promote our Ukrainian heritage and raise an awareness of local, national, and international issues that impact Ukrainian Canadians. Our cultural programs provide a public forum for Ukrainian Canadian artists, performers and writers. Through our Distinguished Speaker Series and our support of artistic performances, we have made others aware of the contributions made by Ukrainian Canadians. Our successful scholarship program provides financial assistance to both young and old, in advancing and bettering their education and working skills so that they can contribute more to our community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the UCPBA Annual General Meeting on June 23!

We were honoured to welcome our guest speaker, Tyler Shandro, whose insightful remarks contributed to a meaningful and engaging evening.

A special thank you to the talented singers from HUP for their wonderful performance, which brought energy and culture to the event, and to Ukr Chef Catering for the delicious food and exceptional service.

We are grateful to our members, volunteers, supporters, and guests for making this year's AGM a success. We look forward to another year of collaboration, community, and growth.

Enjoy a special performance by the Calgary-based Ukrainian folk music ensemble HUP, led by founder and artistic director Dartsia Strantseva. The group brings together Ukrainians from different regions of Ukraine, preserving and sharing authentic folk songs passed down through generations.

This event provides an opportunity to connect with fellow professionals, business leaders, and community members while learning about UCPBA's accomplishments and future initiatives.

Volunteer Call for the 2026 UCPBA Casino
We are looking for volunteers for the upcoming UCPBA Casino, on July 16–17, 2026 (Thursday and Friday) at Cowboys Casino (421 12 Ave SE).

The proceeds from this casino event directly support UCPBA programs and initiatives, including scholarships and grants for individuals and organizations in our community. By volunteering, you will play an important role in helping us continue these valuable efforts.

Dear Community,

You are warmly invited to attend a special book event featuring Canadian author and speaker David Chernushenko on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Cultural Centre in Calgary.

David Chernushenko is the author of the newly released book Standing with Underdogs, which explores issues of justice, compassion, and support for vulnerable communities. His presentations typically include a book reading, a discussion of the book's themes, a question-and-answer session, and an opportunity to purchase signed copies.

A portion of all book sales supports humanitarian and medical assistance for those affected by the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, both in Canada and in Ukraine.

David also has a personal connection to Calgary, having been born here and having spent part of his early childhood in the city.

We encourage you to attend and to share this invitation with family and friends who may be interested.

It was an honour to welcome Michael Bociurkiw back to Calgary for an engaging and insightful discussion hosted by UCPBA Calgary and UCC Calgary.

Michael shared his unique perspective on the global challenges shaping today’s world, including the war in Ukraine, the changing geopolitical landscape, and the importance of international support and diplomacy. As a globally recognized commentator, former spokesperson for UNICEF and the Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine, Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, and founder of World Briefing, Michael brought firsthand experience and deep expertise to the conversation.

We are grateful for his continued support of Calgary’s Ukrainian community and for taking the time to share his knowledge with us.

We are excited to announce that Michael Bociurkiw will be in Calgary on May 19 to speak about the war in Ukraine. Michael is a well-known and respected journalist whose work has been featured in many of the world's leading media outlets, including The New York Times, CNN and BBC. He lives in Odesa, Ukraine and offers a unique and first-hand perspective of the current state of the war and future prospects. Some of you may remember that he spoke here several years ago, and it was very well received. Please consider attending this unique opportunity to learn more about the war at this crucial stage in the history of Ukraine.
