CONGRATULATIONS MORSAL!

Our first recipient of the Dina and Maha Scholarship

"Currently studying at the Ontario Institute of Technology, Morsal is a first-year student pursuing a bachelors of science in nursing. Alongside her studies, Morsal volunteers at her local Ismaili Community Centre, where she helps plan events that build confidence in youth. Whenever Morsal has free time, one of the things she enjoys doing is cooking homemade meals for her family. After completing her schooling, Morsal’s dream is to become a pediatric nurse at Sickkids Hospital."

We are pleased to announce the Dina and Maha Memorial Scholarship.

Our beloved late co- founders and board members Maha El-Meseery and Dina Said were Daughters, Sisters, Friends, and Role Models.

Their friendship started to blossom at an early age, and no matter where life took them, they kept in touch. They traveled together, laughed together, cried together, and lived life to the fullest.

Maha and Dina both came to Canada to continue their educational journey. Dina obtained her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Calgary. Maha completed a master's degree from the University of Regina in Computer Science and was taking her Ph.D. at the University of Regina.

As co-founders of the Own It Institute of Canada, their vision was to create an organization that makes our communities stronger. They strived to help everyone around them. Their work was not limited to the Own It Institute of Canada – rather it was worldwide. Both of these loving souls were very humble in their efforts, and most of their initiatives and work stayed a secret until after their death.

Knowing how they valued and loved education, this scholarship was created in their memory to honor their legacy and continue the impact they left in the community.

We are looking forward to receiving applications and awarding two deserving students $2200 towards their tuition.

If you are a student satisfying all or most requirements, please apply.

Please spread the word.
