Community Crop (Calgary, SW) Community Crop In 2007 a loose gathering of new and experienced gardeners built and constructed the South Garden.

Community Crop registered as a non-profit society the following year and by 2012 had expanded to four garden sites. The mandate of Community Crop is to develop community spaces for growing food and increasing biodiversity, beautifications, educational opportunities and community involvement.

Hop into your very own garden plot before it’s too late — we still have a limited number of garden plots available at all three of our locations.

If you are looking for a rewarding way to grow your own fresh food, now is the time!

Get your gloves ready! Registration is officially open for the Community Crop Garden Society 2026 season. Whether you are a seasoned pro or a first-time grower, we would love to have you join us in the soil this year.

Registration Details:

Cost: $48 to register for the season.

Eligibility: Open to both new and returning gardeners.

Availability: Spots are limited and tend to fill up quickly!

We have three beautiful garden sites available this year:

• Currie Booster

• Alternative High

• South Calgary

Hello fellow gardeners! Our annual Purdys Chocolate holiday fundraiser is officially on!

Treat yourself or find the perfect, easy gift, all while supporting your local volunteer-driven non-profit gardening society, Community Crop! 💚

Funds raised will go directly towards maintenance, supplies, and beautification of our three garden sites in the Marda Loop/Altadore area (South Calgary, Currie Booster, and Alternative High).

We’ve got extra veggie starts, herbs, and indoor plants looking for good homes! Swing by our new honor-system plant stand outside the Currie Booster gate — take what you need, leave what you can.

🪴 100% of donations go back into maintaining our community garden and keeping this space blooming for all. We’ll be rotating the stand between our South Calgary and Alternative High gardens — stay tuned for updates!

Community Crop has collaborated with BEAU Gardens to offer our garden members the opportunity to take a class on how to plant a successful garden bed.

Join Mirna, from Beau Gardens,on April 29th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm as we kick-off the 2025 gardening season.

This event will be hosted outdoors at Community Crop’s South Calgary Community Gardens (3130 - 16th ST SW) next to the Marda Loop Communities Association.

At a cost of $35 this class really represents great value.
