Why wear orange shirts?

National Truth and Reconiciliation day always serves as a reminder towards the lives of indigenous children that never returned home and the ones who came back enduring the negative impacts of attending residential schools.

A reminder always that every child’s lives and lived experiences matters 🧡

🕊️ Remembering, reflecting, and renewing our commitment to peace.

On Saturday, August 8, our community came together to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Through remembrance, reflection, and community, we honoured those affected and renewed our shared commitment to building a world where peace, compassion, and nonviolence guide our future.

This gathering was part of our Building a Culture of Peace Month—a month dedicated to creating spaces for learning, connection, and action. Because peace is more than a moment of remembrance. It is something we build together, every day. ☮️

There are many ways to be part of that work:

July 1 is a day that holds different meanings for different people.

As many mark Canada Day, it is also important to recognize that this country exists on the traditional territories of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. For many Indigenous communities, this day is a reminder of a history of colonization, displacement, and the ongoing impacts of residential schools and systemic inequities.

Lets not forget.
