On June 4th, we celebrated our 35th Anniversary and our Annual Ceremonial Review. We were honoured to have the Commanding Officer of HMCS Calgary be the reviewing officer for the evening! During our ACR the cadets showcased many of the things that they had learned this year, such as knot tying, coil and heave a line, marksmanship, their knowledge of ranks. Our Multicultural team put together many displayed to show the different countries that cadets come from, showing the diversity and the many different cultures that are present within our corps.

We also presented a few awards, including the Lord Strathcona Medal that was presented to CPO2 Emily Newell, and the Top Cadet of the Year that was presented to CPO2 Taylor Newell! On April 30th 2026, we celebrated the age out of CPO1 Mundra, and welcomed the incoming Coxswain, CPO1 Kennedy.

CPO1 Mundra has been in the program for 6 years, he has excelled in all of his pursuits, and he has been a reliable anchor for those around him, providing help, words of wisdom, occasional hugs, and a happy face everywhere that he goes. If you were to ask anyone about CPO1 Mundra, they would say that he is kindhearted, dedicated, and really good at what he does. During his time as the Coxswain of RCSCC 335 Calgary, he organized the group of staff cadets that were working under him, creating a new system that was formed with the goal to serve the cadets in a better way, which allowed for immense growth. Alongside the CO, they were able to create and deploy a new system that allowed for the cadets to have a more direct communication system with the chain of command, allowing for communication to be seamless and efficient. These are changes that have helped and will continue 335 to succeed.

As a sail enthusiast, CPO1 Mundra took every opportunity that h could within the program that was related to sail, in order to improve his skills and become skilled enough to be an instructor, allowing for him to teach his passion to others. This passion brought him to HMCS Quadra, where he was first a course cadet, then a staff cadet, and then in the summer of 2025, he was the Chief of Sail and Aviation, a role that allowed for him to teach, learn about aviation, lead others, and a role that was very well deserved.

During his speech, CPO1 Mundra left the cadets with a meaningful message, saying that “the one thing that I will say to you all is to try everything that you can, make some friends along the way, because at the end of it, you’ll be in this position, when you’re aging out, and those are the key moments you’ll remember. You’ll remember the people who cheered you on, and the people who helped you along the way.”

We are immensely proud to welcome the new Coxswain of RCSCC 335 Calgary, Chief Petty Officer First Class Mundra!

CPO1 Mundra got promoted to the rank of Chief Petty Officer First Class on November 27th 2025, and he is looking forward to continuing in this role until he ages out in May 2026. CPO1 Mundra says that his goals as the Coxswain will be to “mentor and guide my chiefs and staff cadets as they explore, develop, and gain confidence in their own leadership styles, build a unified staff team grounded in trust and care, where cadets support one another instinctively and unconditionally.”

On November 27th 2025 we were very happy to promote 4 new Chief Petty Officer Second Classes.

These CPO2s will serve as the Watch Chiefs for Watches 1 - 4.  They will be in charge of ensuring their watch is meeting training standards, that they are performing well in regards to drill and dress, and they will also ensure that all members of their watch are informed about upcoming events. The Watch Chiefs are a critical component of our new redesign of the previous system that required Departmental Chiefs to serve both roles, this allows for Departmental Chiefs and Watch Chiefs to succeed in their roles and help the corps run smoothly.
