Marda Loop Communities Association is proud to host a variety of outdoor recreation facilities for year-round activities. The bike track is our newest addition, designed to be a fun and inclusive space for riders of all ages and skill levels. This track was built as a space for our community to come together and build confidence for riders of all ages and stages. To help us keep it that way, we ask that everyone rides with respect:

🚲 Control your speed and ride at a pace that keeps everyone safe
🚲 Wear a helmet
🚲 No E-bikes permitted
🚲 Pack out what you bring in, please use the garbage cans or take your litter home
🚲 Be kind to all riders

Fun. Educational. Confidence Building. That’s the Young Rembrandts difference.
 
Drawing is more than a creative activity — it’s an educational skill that helps children grow.
 
At Young Rembrandts - Calgary & Southern Alberta, children learn through our unique step-by-step method that develops real drawing skills while strengthening concentration, fine motor skills, critical thinking, organization, and confidence.

Unlike other programs where the project is the focus, our educational curriculum teaches skills that children build on week after week. Every lesson is designed by educators and artists to help children succeed both creatively and academically.
 
Parents are often amazed by how quickly their children improve — not only in their artwork, but in their patience, focus, and self-confidence. From Early Learners ages 4-5 to Artistic Explores ages 6-12, this is a way to have your children express their creativity!

The Marda Loop Communities Association (MLCA) is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Swim Instructor to join our 2026/2027 Swim Club Program!

This position involves coaching and mentoring swimmers aged 8 to 17 years in a supportive, fun, and skill-focused environment. 

Key Responsibilities:
🏊‍♀️ Plan and deliver swimming programs for youth ages 8-17. 
🏊 Provide supervision, leadership, and mentorship. 
🏊‍♀️ Ensure a safe and inclusive environment. 
🏊 Work collaboratively with the Swim Club Coach. 
🏊‍♀️ Submit timesheets and required documentation. 

Qualifications & Requirements: 
🌊 Standard First Aid or equivalent.
🌊 CPR-C Certification.
🌊 Current Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
🌊 Experience teaching or coaching youth aquatic programs preferred. 

Work Schedule: 
⏱️ Every Monday, 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM.
⏱️ Program runs September 14, 2026 to May 1, 2027. 

Compensation: $45 per 1.5-hour instructional session.

Happy back to school week ✏️🍎🚌

We have many schools in the Marda Loop area (3 private schools, 3 elementary schools, 1 junior high and 1 high school!), so let’s all do our part to keep our children safe at pick up and drop off.

Obey the speed limits of 30 km/h in the playground zones when driving, watch out for kids and families walking and wheeling to school, and watch when parking in bus lanes or drop off zones!

⭐️Join Us for a Community Cleanup! ⭐️

Cleaning up just got easier! Dispose of those big, unusable or broken household items the right way and help keep our neighborhood looking its best.

Every year, The City of Calgary partners with community organizations and amazing volunteers to host community cleanups, making it simple to get rid of items that don’t fit in your black cart while building pride and connection in our community.

✅ Everyone is welcome! If you can’t make your neighborhood event, you can drop off items at any cleanup location across the city. Cleanups run on weekends April 25 through September 27. No commercial or contractor waste is permitted.

🗓️ Our event is on September 19 from (9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) at MLCA Community Hall (3130 16 ST). Visit our website for more cleanup details at http://www.mardaloop.com

Have you ever wondered how Marda Loop got its name? Long before 33rd Avenue was lined with cute cafes, local shops, and delicious restaurants, it was a turnaround hub for Calgary’s No. 7 streetcar — and home to the iconic “Marda Theatre” (named by owners Marc & Mada Jenkins).

We worked with Heritage Calgary and Marda Loop BIA to launch A Loop in Time — a deep dive into the stories, people, and places that shaped our neighbourhood into the urban village we love today.

This past Saturday was a smash hit!🍸

Thank you to our amazing attendees and MLCA Pub Crawl partners, Marda Loop Brewing Co., AVITUS, Vaycay Brew Co, and Side Hustle ~ Bar & Food, for opening your doors and helping create such a fun, welcoming, and memorable afternoon.

We were delighted to bring residents together while showcasing some of the outstanding local businesses that make Marda Loop such a vibrant and unique neighbourhood!

One of the highlights of the day was discovering new places, meeting residents and local workers, and learning more about what makes each business special. Events like this remind us of the incredible opportunities we have right here in our own community.
