There is 1 DAY LEFT for IDW 2025 and we would like to announce our last speaker this year, Amirah Zaim!

Driven by a passion for blending creativity with purpose, Amirah is a changemaker dedicated to social impact. As the founder of Amalna, she collaborates with NGOs and community groups—such as Action for Humanity Canada and Muslimah in Sports—to design custom merchandise that supports fundraising and awareness efforts.

As a designer and fundraiser, she has independently created and sold Palestine-themed stickers and Eid cards, raising over $1,000 CAD for humanitarian aid. Her designs, sold in Malaysia and Canada, have gained recognition, with her olive branch sticker selected by The Western Muslim Initiative (WMI) for their event.

We are thrilled to introduce our next speakers, Alexis and Christal from Volunteer.YYC!

Volunteer.YYC was founded by both Alexis (she/her – University of Calgary student) and Christal Robles (she/her – University of Calgary student) amidst the pandemic in early 2021. What began as a simple mission to inspire volunteering has grown into something far greater. Their journey began with a shared passion for giving back. As volunteer needs surged across various organizations during the pandemic, there was an opportunity to bridge the gap by creating a social media page dedicated to promoting volunteer opportunities throughout the city.

It can be daunting to navigate volunteer opportunities; where to start, which roles align with your interests, and how to apply. Therefore Volunteer.YYC serves to simplify the process for Calgarians, providing clear summaries and easy-to-follow steps to make volunteering more accessible. Their goal has always been to inspire people to give back while ensuring they have the information needed in one convenient place. Through Volunteer.YYC, Alexis and Christal have collaborated with incredible organizations, not just in Calgary and across Canada, but around the world, including in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Japan, France, the U.S., Uganda, Mexico, and beyond.

Join us this Wednesday, February 5th to hear Alexis and Christal share their work in making volunteering opportunities more accessible.
